I shared one of my mkgmap maps with another osmer who lives just in the area where two tiles overlap and he has detected poi's are duplicated in that area e.g. if you search a petrols station it appears twice.

Be sure to use the latest revision of splitter, as before r21 there was a problem with the decimal point, which in turn breaks the clipping of the osm data, because it cant read the bounding box. Then the result is what you see.
