Not all Garmin devices accept UTF-8.

If not an Error msg will show and map will not be displayed.

I'm on vacation now, so I don't have any better information.

One user try another country. Same effect. He try also build the gmapsupp with MapSource instead of the ready Speiche-gmapsupp. Same effect.
