Hi Gerd, with the patch no more error messages are generated. So it seem to fix the problem. Great :-) I took a glimpse at the patch and I am wondering why the removeShortArcs method now makes a difference between "foot-only" ways and other ways. (The isFootOnlyAccess(Way way) catched my attention during merging the patch). Can you explain that? The removeShortArcs method is too complicate now to get a quick understanding... WanMil
Hi WanMil,
I think I found a few special cases where the highway count is not correctly maintained when ways are split. Maybe this happens now more often because the merging produces longer roads. Please check my patch posted here: http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/pipermail/mkgmap-dev/2013q2/018344.html

Hi Gerd,
I have moved the merging after the short arcs handling.
I modified the merging in that way that the highway count at the merged point is decreased. Now I get several warnings about routing problems:
possible routing problem: road end-points not both coordNodes: (http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/157720528)
Do you have any idea why there is a problem when decreasing the highway count by one for the merged point?

Hi WanMil,

Maybe the merge routine has to be moved after the removeShortArcs handling.
yes, I think it should be moved after the loop that copies the points.
