I hate to rain on the parade, but this *doesn't* work for me
(Streetpilot i3).
Hmm - I have a ray of sunshine for y'all.
Though it seemed true that the new map was no better than the old one,
today I had to replace the batteries in my Streetpilot which forced the
unit through a cold restart (took 5 minutes to find the satellites).
After all that, I was suddenly aware that the recalculate distance was
down to about 30 - 50m!!
So - maybe it *does* work for me then.
Maybe the Streetpilot caches certain parameters from the mapping files?
However - I have in the past switched from mkgmap maps to Garmin's own
maps and back again, yet it didn't seem to fix the recalculate distance
in that case. I don't get it.
