I draw the coastline also, and noticed a gap in mapsource when zooming in.
Also, it is flagged by http://coastline.openstreetmap.nl/

I had noticed the same problem and overcame it by using
--generate-sea:close-gaps=10000,no-mp (i.e. using a ridiculously high
value for close-gaps)
because I couldn't find an easy way of identifying the broken coastline
segment.  How did you find the segment tagged with cliff?
