Hi,
this helped a lot using freshly calculated boundaries with osmosis. On the other hand, the precalculated bounds gave me bad results. May I ask you if you generate your bounds yourself, and if so, which settings/options you are using?
I generate my bounds myself once a week from the complete planet file. You only need two options: --createboundsfile and --bounds. And of course a machine with SUN Java 1.7 and 8GB of RAM.
