The short version: - get Universal Extractor (http://legroom.net/software/uniextract) - use universal extractor to extract all files from MapSource update installer (7Zip may work also) - run Main.msi first! - run Setup.msi, later.
This bypasses the previous version check. I own two Garmin Quest devices (2004 was a good year) and this saved me the hassle of digging up the CDs.
