@Steve: Attached is an updated file to replace http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/page/tile-splitter Please check, I am a beginner with html and my editor complains about line 351, whereas html tidy complais about other lines as well.

Thanks Gerd, the web site is written mostly in mediawiki format, so I have converted it and it is now on the website. The static content on the website can now be seen at http://svn.mkgmap.org.uk/web. ..Steve
