On the nuvi the behavior is also strange. It looks that the POI address info is not used for all point types. For cities the region is displayed after the name. If no region is set the country is displayed. If I select a city from the list only the city name and the country is displayed.
The etrex does exactly the same
So, please make your new functionality be enabled by an option rather than being the default behaviour and, if enabled, don't add the /cityname suffix to the road name pois as it's no longer required.
With the Street POIs I think we should keep the added cityname since the region country is never displayed in the search list. If I use the default POI type 0x640a no address information is displayed if I select it from the list. Using 0x2900 (Uncategorized buisiness) works better. At least I get address info if I select the poi but still no region info in the list. Looks like Etrax and Nuvi behave different in this case. I have added some screen shots ...
On the etrex, if the road is associated with a city+region, the city and region name are shown in the "map info" box when you scroll through the list of road names during search. But I agree, it's better to keep the /cityname suffix for road names so that you can tell their location if the nuvi won't show the city info.
I think adding a option is a good idea since most countries have very poor is_in information right now.
You have to give the user the option of using the feature or not - I think that should be so for any non-fundamental capability of mkgmap. Cheers, Mark
