Hi Gerd, I have a solution that is producing better results than the standard. However, I realised that in my code I’d written a load of code for joining multipolygons into simple polygons and subsequently found that there was similar code that already existed. I have not got around to rationalising this as yet.

looks good to me. Please can you also correct the corresponding file in doc?
I also had problems to apply the patch. Please try to create the patch with
svn like
this:
Checkout / update to the latest version , cd into mkgmap directory
and use
svn diff > xyz.patch
Instead of xyz use the path you like.
