I wondered why the contour lines on OpenCycleMap tiles end near my latitude (a few hundred meters south from my home). The reason seems to be that the NASA SRTM data does not cover polar areas, between 60° and 90° degree northern or southern latitude. Fortunately, some contour data appears to be available: http://www.viewfinderpanoramas.org/contours2.html Has anyone made any experiments with this data? Is a translation from the Pulkovo 42 coordinate system to WGS84 needed? Is it OK to distribute Garmin maps that combine OSM and this elevation data? Marko
