Ah yes, I should have been clear, it will only work in mapsource as far as I know. Also I expect that the section 1 subsection data is used by ms to create the on-device version, so I doubt that will work either (though I've not tried, so feel free to check).
Unfortunately I was not able to spend much time looking into MDR during the last months. So I have to dig into this again. According to my documents the nuvi at least requires the following MDR Records:
1, 5, 11, 24 (country List ?), 25 (City Ref List), 29 (Country List ?)
Did you also reduce the header length? The sections 24,25 and 29 may only be required in files with the larger header. ..Steve
