@Steve: I've double checked on my machine that r3673 passes the unit tests, it says "BUILD SUCCESSFUL" ,

The build had hung. I restarted it and it has now built the release.

but I see some new files in my mkgmap directory which never appeared before:

D:\mkgmap>svn stat ? hello ? test.typ ? ts__test.typ

I assume this is related to the change in build.xml?

Thanks I hadn't noticed that, and it doesn't happen for me on linux. I expect that after the build change the files are being removed while still open which doesn't work on windows. ..Steve
