the style is saved with WinXPs notepad as ANSI and as UTF-8; both produce the same unexpected output: the "ü" becomes always a "?". Same happens when I set the name explicitly {name 'Windmühle'}.
If you save as ANSI then it would become a "?", but it ought to work if saved as utf-8. So first we need to check if it is really being saved in utf-8. If you upload the relevant style file to files.mkgmap.org.uk I can check it. Best wishes ..Steve
