Strange route display

While experimenting with motorway-junctions and links, I noticed that MapSource draws some kind of "ghost" route on my minimalistic map (see attachment). Does this indicate some kind of mkgmap problem or is it simply a bug in MapSource? Cheers, - Michel

City POI

City POI

Hi guys, I am a new subscriber of this list, but a long time user of mkgmap, since I usually use it to transform OSM to Garmin img for my Colorado 300 (wich I use, of course, for OSM mapping). Now I am very happy about the new features of mkgmap (routing), but I have a little question about City's POI. In my points configuration file I have the following lines: ... place=city [0x04 level 4] place=hamlet [0x0a level 2] place=locality [0x0b level 1] place=suburb [0x08 level 2] place=town [0x05 level 3] place=village [0x06 level 2] ... (quite similar to the original one, but I use "level" instead of "resolution" and I did some tuning to balance the "weight" of the POIs on the map). I am able to see all the POIs in my map (both on my unit and in Mapsource), but I am not able to search for them in the "City" list (they are also recognized like "generic" POIs), neither in Mapsource nor in my Colorado (the last version of mkgmap I used is the 971). Do I am missing some other configuration parameter? Potential error in lines style file? highway=primary [0x02

Hello, I just noticed in the default styles file, from the trunk, that highway=primary has the following entry: highway=primary [0x02 road_class=3 road_speed=4 resolution 19] highway=primary_link [0x03 road_class=3 road_speed=3 resolution 19] This is the same type as highway=trunk: highway=trunk [0x02 road_class=3 road_speed=5 resolution 16] Should highway=primary not have the type 0x03 (as primary_link)? Or is this deliberate? It certainly makes a difference in the map display, as the "resolution 16" style rule for trunk also gets applied to primary. I cannot easily determine how or if this influences routing. Cheers!

Wanted - example .img that contains findable exits

Hi, I am working on supporting findable exits and have implemented a lot of the required code. I need to determine the format of the exit records and it would help a lot if I could see a sample .img file (unlocked, of course) that contains findable exits. Keep left/right to xxx

Hi. What are the rules when Garmin instructs to keep right/left to some_road? I know that turn left/right instruction comes if the angle between two nodes is big enough. The reason I'm asking is the situation at: http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=60.20587&lon=24.93416&zoom=17&layers=B000… If I come from south via Ratapihankatu and my route takes me to east on Koskelantie, I get no instructions from the GPS unit. In this case, it would be good to get the "keep right for..." instruction. I have tried (with local file) adjusting the angle where ratapihantiesplits in to two, but only got "turn right" instruction once the angle was big enough. Just that it's not intersection requiring a turn, just a lane change...

Route includes wrong types of ways

I have my nuvi configured to select fastest route for car/motorcycle. In the attached image, going from A to B it selected first a service way (first red circle) through a petrol station, then another service way instead of a two lanes residential one (second red circle) and finally some steps (third circle). Blue line shows the correct route it should have selected, obviously longer but I think better for a car. What is not working here? Regards Carlos
