Error building sea map

I'm trying to build a sea-only map for Spain to combine it later with my routeable map. What I've done is: 1-Download natural=coastline ways for the desired bbox [1]. 2-Edit downloaded osm file in JOSM and close the land polygon in the North. I used segments of some 60 km for that. Help with style rules

Hi list, In my lines style file I have the following lines: highway=secondary & (oneway=yes | oneway=true) [0x125 resolution 20] highway=secondary & (bridge=yes | bridge=true) [0x113 resolution 20] highway=secondary [0x04 resolution 20] And in my overlays file: # bridges 0x113: 0x04, 0x12 # oneway symbols 0x125: 0x04, 0x10 This has the effect of adding one-way symbols (defined in my TYP file for 0x10) to secondary roads with oneway=yes, and bridge symbols (0x12) to secondary roads with bridge=yes. Any roads that have neither of these two keys just appear as secondary roads. What doesn't currently work is secondary roads that are both one-way and a bridge. Is the continue patch the only way to apply a set of rules to ways that are both oneway and bridges? Or can I do something more cunning in the style file? If the continue patch is the only way, is there a compiled version of it, or would I have to compile it myself? Thanks, Charlie -- Charlie

Multilayer Map in MapSource?

Hello guys, I'm currently new to generating maps for my Garmin eTrex Legend HCx. What I did till now: I generated a map with one single layer with mkgmap and installed that into MapSource. Now I found out that there's also the possibility to create a map with multiple layers (contours, basemap and routing map). Does anyone has an instruction which commands and ids I have to use? I already tried some things but without success till now. Thanks in advance

Problem building map for Minnesota

I've been building maps for Iowa for a while with great success, but today I tried adding in Minnesota since I'll be travelling to the Twin Cities for the holidays. I ran into this issue though: SEVERE (Polyline): Problem writing line (class uk.me.parabola.imgfmt.app.trergn.Polyline) of type 0x1c containing 3 points and starting at http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=49.00046&lon=-97.22862&zoom=17 SEVERE (Polyline): Subdivision shift is 0 and its centre is at http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=48.97566&lon=-96.19088&zoom=17 SEVERE (Polyline): deltaLong = -48362 I'm using an .osm file split out of the 091216 planet file using a snapshot of osmosis from Nov 28th, split up using splitter rev 103 and mkgmap 1436. -- Jeff Ollie

[POI Categories Mismatch]

Hi, Once again I need your help... I get some categorie mismatches between an OSM map and the result in Garmin. For example, I define a point as a tourist office in JOSM and it appears as public toilets in the Garmin map. The tourist office doesn't appear in the POI Menu of the Garmin, only on the map. I've read on http://www.polkupyoraily.net/osm/ about correspondance trouble with the POI IDs : - From the mkgmap source file resources/styles/default/points : amenity=toilets & tourism=information [0x2f0c resolution 20] tourism=information [0x2f0c resolution 20] - On http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin/POI_Types : I didn't find anything about a tourist office... Is there a way to resolve it? My second question is "Is it still impossible to display the sea?" I'm living on an island, and I just can't see the blue coast line anymore !! ;o) Thx Steph.

Inserting hex codes in labels

I would like to be able to insert hex chars into labels so I can stop parts (or all) of labels being displayed when zoomed out (as described in cgpsmapper doc). Is there anyway our style code can support that? I know it has some highway shields but how about the other codes? Cheers, Mark

Hi! Running mkgmap r1404 on a large map, I have encountered the following error message that I have not seen before: SCHWERWIEGEND (MapSplitter): Area too small to split at http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=46.36971&lon=13.83734&zoom=17 (reduce the density of points, length of lines, etc.) Is this the same as the previous error "too many objects for map file" or something else? bye Nop

Contours in maps

Hello again, I've been reading about Contours and Relief now. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Contours http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Relief_maps In some earlier mkgmap mailing list postings I read that it was possible with mkgmap to add contours to maps. The wiki help page (which is usually outdated) says that this feature has been removed in r1080, the help output from mkgmap does not show --contour either. But according to [1] this should nevertheless still work in r1080. Now what? Contours or no contours? I would like to have them on my map too, actually. Problems with multiple maps in one gmapsupp.img

Good Evening, I've just been processing the whole USA and put it all in one gmapsupp.img. Zooming in at two, three places shew that at least the places I visited were working. Then I've added the switzerland file. And exactly at the place where I'm living I've got a gap. There _are_ some parts of switzerland which are available on the map, but there is a gap. What might have caused that? When uploading just the gmapsupp.img generated from the switzerland file all is fine. Is it because I'm using too many maps? About 50 in total. Or because one map is buggy? Total file size of the gmapsupp is at 1.8 GB. Any Ideas? Simon

State Highway 57 is broken!

And as is my image I wanted to generate. I was using the ohio file from CloudMade, downloaded today. kentucky also. The other files work well. Except for error messages like SCHWERWIEGEND (LineSplitterFilter): Way (US:WA14 State Route 14, http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/5930357) has a max dimension of 32767 and is about to be split (routing will be broken) or SCHWERWIEGEND (MapSplitter): Area too small to split at http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=39.73167&lon=-74.64532&zoom=17 (reduce the density of points, length of lines, etc.) -- but at least mkgmap does not crash here. Error message below, have fun.
