Why does the --process-exits option only work on motorways

Hi everybody, first of all I'd like to say that the --process-exits option does a marvelous job on motorways. The display on the Nüvi 40 finally shows sensible texts. Now I'm wondering why this option only works for motorways. IMHO trunk roads are almost the same thing from a driver's point of view. So motorways and trunk roads should be handled in a very similar manner. It would vastly improve the displayed texts on the Nüvi. Currently I get "Roundabout" in the display on almost every trunk exit. ( Down here in Bavaria it's quite fashionable to have roundabouts distributing the traffic from and to trunk roads. ) Or is there any deeper reason for --process-exits option only working on motorways ? Mkgmap can read Bounds files and Style files from a zip file (and Splitter can read geonames from a zip file). Would this also be possible for precompiled sea, which comes from navmaps.eu as a zip file? Polygons deformed

Hi, I see that the polygons are deformed in MapSource compared to the online openstreetmap view. When I draw a polygon, I make perfect line and angles but when I see it compiled in MapSource it is not the same form. I don’t understand why. Thanks

Style function is_connected ?

Hi, would a new style function is_connected() be difficult to implement ? It should result "no" for example on this way: <http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/45838172> Because it is not connected to any other highway. Benefit: You could make such routing islands non routable. Greetings Chris

While reading the code, I stumbled upon code such as if ("unicode".equals(charset)) in src/uk/me/parabola/imgfmt/app/labelenc/CodeFunctions.java. mkgmap --help=options does not mention this option, but there’s a line #OSMDATA = --charset=unicode localtest/osm/czech_test.osm in the Makefile. So I tried this option, but what I got looks like all characters transliterated to just ASCII. Oops? I guess what I actually want to ask: since we’ve seen that newer devices have a rich character repertoire containing latin based, greek, cyrillic and arabic, I wonder whether it is only possible to access them via code pages, limiting us to a subset every time. Do you know whether there’s unicode support in recent devices? rj
