mkgmap and "memory-full-error"

Hi! I've downgraded my Oregon 450 from firmware 6.xx to 5.50, because this was the last firmware without the activity routing. With the activity routing the routing of my maps was broken (car routing over steps and ignoring of "access=no"). With the firmware 5.50 the routing was correct again. But after a few weeks I get the famous memory-full-error. Now I read that in the past several people reported this error with maps made with mkgmap. The only advice I found, was to use an recent firmware. Is there a known bug in mkgmap? How can I avoid the error? Christian

typ file not written to output-dir

Hi, I think this is an error: If I use a command like this: java -jar mkgmap.jar --style-file=f:\osm\tk-osm\basemap\style --nsis --output-dir=c:\xyz e:\bremen\*.o5m f:\osm\tk-osm\basemap\basemap.TYP I get an *.nsi script in c:\xyz that searches for a file xbasemap.TYP, but this file is instead created in the source directory of the typ file: f:\osm\tk-osm\basemap\ Gerd

overview2 branch

Hi, I think r2616 is ready for trunk, but I will probably not have time to work on any errors during the next 10 days. So, I think it is better to give all some time for testing. @Steve: I have updated the doc, but I see some error warnings and creation of pdf fails. Reg. the open question about merge-lines: I have no preference here. I can add public boolean isSimilar(MapLine other){ if (direction != other.direction) return false; return isSimilar((MapElement) other); } to MapLine.java, it looks "more correct", but it increases the img size a little bit with the default style. overview-branch: missing tiles in mapsource

Hi, I found a problem with the overview2 branch from last week. I haven't tested it yet with the current version. Sometimes single tiles are missing in Mapsource. They are available and working in the gmapsupp.img generated by mkgmap, and the tiles are available in the install directory of MapSource. But MapSource does not display it, only the overview-map. It does work if I remove all ovm_* files before running mkgmap with --tdbfile. So something like: mkgmap --gmapsupp ... mkgmap --tdbfile 7*.img => single tiles are missing rm ovm_*.img mkgmap --tdbfile 7*.img => works, but of course no overview map available. What would you else need? Hi Steve, I found this confusing comment in MapperBasedMapDataSource: // Note we add directly to the shapes list, we do not add to // the overview section. mapper.addShape(background); My understanding is that the addShape() method updates the overview section. I assume the code is correct and the comment should be removed? new assertion?

I have been running mkgmap with only occasional issues for a long time. I just updated to the latest svn, and got an assertion. This was with java 1.6 on a mac, so I updated to 1.7.
