Intertile/access related routing problem

Hello all I have several routes calculated in MapSource which fail to follow the logical route. They should go by a roundabout that is crossed by tile border. Instead of that, they take a shortcut before the roundabout, using a way tagged as highway=footway (converted to cycleway by style), which should not be used in car mode. In other test route goes by a path, which shouldn't be used by cars either. I have done a lot of test with two custom styles until I realized it also happens with default style. I first thought it was related with new splitter, but I have found a map from last November which has the same problem. All data to reproduce the problem can be downloaded from http://alternativaslibres.org/files/problem.zip Zip includes three tiles to build test map, areas.list from splitter, *.args file (only first three input files are needed) and a *.gdb file that can be opened in MapSource with five test routes: route 1 uses a path, routes 2 and 3 use a cycleway, route 4 is very similar to 2 and 3 but strangely uses the roundabout and is OK, and route 5 which also uses the roundabout without problem. I have the same problem with the footway: http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/244757074 It's been like this for at least six moths. I already tried to add a tag "motor_vehicle:no" (which should not be necessary in a footway), to no effect. It is marked as "bicicle:yes", maybe this is related to the problem. patch for improvements to echotags diagnostic messages

HI Gerd, here is a patch to improve the diagnostics output by echotags when mkgmap has created copies of data for internal processing. Currently the original OSM Id is lost when the data is copied. This small patch retains the original Id when elements are copied. There is no change to the map output. Please give this a try and commit if all is OK. I also suggest that the toBrowseURL and getDebugName functions in Element.java be changed to use originalId instead of id - does that seem sensible to you? Thanks, Mike

Mkgmap new versions missing a way during compilation

I first thought it's my style - but then I checked some more maps from others - and it seems to be missing everywhere: http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/354826927#map=17/37.38957/-7.44517&layers=… That seems to be quite a serious bug - the way is simply lost! With older mkgmap versions this was fine - I can find it in a map I compiled last June - so mkgmap versions older May 2016 were not affected I guess (or it's a java bug?). I took out "--reduce-point-density=3.4 --reduce-point-density-polygon=6 " but it did not change anything. As far as I can see it's kinda strange to put a road like this into OSM - but I would not consider it wrong tagging. My maps do have tertiary_link included in the style - and it works in other places. It must have something to do with the shape of the way - length of it. Splitter 542 stops working

Hi Gerd, yesterday I updated to v542 (v531 same behaviour) of splitter and now splitting doesn't work anymore. I'm using an updated planet.o5m with the attached areas.list and the following command: java -Xmx10000M -XX:+UseCompressedOops -XX:+UseParallelGC -jar .\bin\splitter.jar --status-freq=0 --output=o5m --max-areas=2048 --max-threads=%threads% --overlap=0 --keep-complete --split-file=.\resources\areas.list --description=RadReiseKarte .\data\planet.o5m > splitter.log 2> splitter_error.log So far I tested again v476 to check if the o5m-file is still ok. v476 is running smooth. Do I need to change anything in my script or wait for one of the branches? Feature Request: mkgmap able to create gmap archive (BaseCamp)

Hello together, I'm wondering if it would be possible that mkgmap is able to create/convert maps also in the gmap (gmapi) format used for BaseCamp on Windows and Macintosh. Allthough the old image directory style format is still supported at least on Windows BaseCamp with fiddling around in the registry having a gmap directory is much more convenient. As the gmapsupp format can be created already with mkgmap the only missing format would be gmap format to have the complete chain covered without any external tool.... and this would be very much preferable and appreciated. Any chance ? I'm happy to test whatever is needed. Cheers Patrik

with the latest version of the splitter , it no longer splits in 3rd party software i have . but when i go back to 476 , all is well the 3rd party software i am useing is mapuloader from pinns.co.uk and australia -latest map file from download.geofabrik.de any ideas Cheers stephen
