Missing map part in gmapsupp.img

Hello I've recently updated mkgmap version to r4132 (from a ~year old version) and noticed some strange behaviour: 1. Download Lithuanian latest data in pbf from geofabrik 2. Split using latest version of splitter.jar using: java -jar splitter.jar --max-nodes=3200000 ../lithuania-latest.osm.pbf (4 parts are created). 3. add "gmapsupp" option at the end of the automatically generated template.args file. 4. Run: java -jar mkgmap.jar -c template.args Resulting gmapsupp.img file is missing one part - 63240001.img is not included. I do not think something is wrong in the data, because if I copy the contents of 63240001.osm.pbf as 63240005.osm.pbf and append that in arguments file - gmapsupp.img is created correctly with parts (2-5). What am I missing? Thank you -- Tomas

Route Calculation Error and Ferries

Hi I almost always get "Route Calculation Error" on my Garmin when a ferry crossing is required. GPSMapEdit "Tools > Test Routing Graph" does find the routes and it shows reasonable properties for the ferries, walkways and relevant roads. I'm testing it with a mix of foot and car ferries. In the routing options, all "Avoids" are turned off (ie allow tolls, unpaved, etc) If I create a "Route" on the device, with a "Via Point" on the ferry line, and then navigate this route, it works, except immediately after the "via point" it gives the instruction is "Make a U-turn" This ferry works: https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/3533551 These don't: https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/614416 https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/614415 Any thoughts Ticker

contours not rendered anymore

Hi, Since recently one of my contour tiles of my Benelux map is not rendered anymore. I am using mkgmap r-4127 In my workflow I use mkgmap.args -c contours\contours.args, the contours folder you can download here: http://mijndev.openstreetmap.nl/~ligfietser/mkgmap/ As you can see, I do not use already processed img's but mp format, because two tiles on top of each other that were compiled with different versions of mkgmap will cause conflicts so I have to process them with exactly the same mkgmap as my map tiles. Maybe the latest versions of mkgmap cannot do this correctly anymore? Problem tile is 10010201.mp, it is compiled as 10010201.img but is not included in the map anymore. Is this tile too big? I know there is a workaround by combining contour data straight into the map data but it has always worked until now.

Hi all, during the last days I've tried to find a better algo for the WrongAngleFixer (WAF) The WAF tries to fix problems caused by the rounding of 32 bit OSM coordinates to 24 bit Garmin coordinates. Sometimes it removes points, sometimes it moves them to another Garmin point so that zig-zagging is reduced and round ways look rounder and straight ways look straigther. I've found several places where the current code in trunk doesn't find the best compromise, esp. at small roundabouts with flare roads. Unfortunately it is often impossible to render them as circular ways in 24 bit resolution, so don't expect miracles. See also svn log [1]. Please test r4135 in the branch, you can download it here: http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/download/mkgmap.html If you find places where the code is worse compared to trunk or where it might need further improvements, please let me know. I am aware of some problems: 1) Sometimes the roundabout way is moved so that it overlaps the flare road, this happens here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/1423014403 It is not visible in Basecamp but in GPSMapEdit. 2) It removes a sharp turn here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/3851898316 where the old code keeps it. The algo is more or less a try+error approach without a special order. In some cases I see better results when wrong angles are treated in a different order, but I did not yet find a general rule. :-( The code checks what happens when a node is removed or when one or two nodes are moved. In a few cases it would probably be better to check a combined move of more nodes or other combinations. I think I'll try to code that. Limit the number of highway shields in basecamp and gps

Hello Is there a way to limit the number (or extend the distance) of highway shields in basecamp? On some zoomlevels the usage of ${ref | highway-symbol:hbox}' generates so many boxes, making the map difficult to read. Thx Joris

Turn restrictions - via ways

Hi, I just read that the iD editor now includes support for via ways in turn restrictions. Making them so accessible means that in time we are going to see more and more of these constructions. If I am not mistaken mkgmap can only handle a via point as a node in a turn restriction, because that's the way Garmin works. Is there any way we can maintain the functionality of mkgmap by allowing turn restrictions involving via ways? Thanks, Colin
