Combining img files to a single map

You can combine all tiles you want. the used style for creating the tiles makes no matter. The restriction is : resulting gmapsupp.img can have *only 1 fid* and can use *only 1 typfile. *if you try this, the minimum options are : family-id=900 /product-id=1// //code-page=1252// //family-name=your name// //series-name=your name// //overview-mapname=anywhat// //area-name=your area// //gmapsupp// // //#list of used tiles:// //6324*.img 789*.img 8910*.img and so on...../ **By the way : only gmaptool can create a gmapsupp from different <name>-gmapsupp.img as source. thomas

Test if POI is part of a line

I read through the old poi-tagged-v3.patch is_in()function for point on line discussion - but what I want is actually different and should be much easier? Could there be a solution to check if a point is a single point vs if it is part of a open/closed line? Why? I would only like to display barrier/highway=gate point icons if they are part of a (best routable) line. Especially for gates most are just useless clutter because they are tagged on private houses and similar. If there was a way to delete afterwards/or create only in first place those points that are part of a line would be good, best would be if they are only shown if part of a routable line (so after the lines stye-file is processed). -- Felix Hartman - Outdoormaps LTD - Openmtbmap.org & VeloMap.org

Suggestion: Add option to remove area after convert to poi

Hi, The --add-pois-to-areas option is very useful to create maps. However, in certain cases I wish to have a clear poi file in addition to the garmin NT navigation file, so that can use the feature like speed limit and "garmin real directions". Thus an option such like --poi-only that removes all non-poi data at end of the process would be great. Thanks, Ke

Indexing street belonging to two cities

Hi there, It is not uncommon for Poland, that one street is located in two different cities. If there are addresses, mkgmap can deal with that problem and allow garmin devices to find the proper address. But if there are no addresses, I was not able to find a method for proper search index generation. Is there any solution for this problem? cgpsmapper supports this type of indexing by using @ in cities name: CityName=city1@city2 so img format can handle this. Thanks for any suggestions Piotr

Too many icons from tourism=information & information=route_marker

Hi all, recently someone mapped lots of nodes like this: https://www.osm.org/node/9842107614 in my area. With the default style they are rendered as an info icon and the text from the operater tag "Wiehengebirgsverband Weser-Ems e.V." which is really useless info. The actual marker is a maybe 10*5 cm black sticker with a white "J", no further information. I think we should change the rule tourism=information [0x4c00 resolution 24] to tourism=information & information!=route_marker [0x4c00 resolution 24] so that these markers are not rendered. Or maybe set mkgmap:label1 to the ref so that they are less prominent? Gerd Gerd

Outlines of states/provinces

I’m new to mkgmap and am still learning the basics. Having said that, I’ve downloaded the US-South sub-region from geofabrik.de and I can see a country dividing line or boundary between the state of Texas and Mexico. It’s a thin grey line. I’d like to know how to create these boundaries. Can anyone provide a brief overview of how to go about this? I know this question demonstrates a real lack of knowledge about how this whole thing works, but I’m learning as I go. Sea 'bleeding' into land in northern France

Hi Thanks for accepting my request to join. Please see below text of a message I recently posted to talk-gb(a)openstreetmap.org. Hi, I hope someone can help with this. I'm a big fan of OpenMapChest and am amazed by Ben Konrath's lovely maps. There's a slight problem (of the first world type) in that in his map of Western Europe (specifically the Calais tile) the sea appears to have breached the sea wall and the land is inundated with blue! Ben says he can't help because it's due to a bad change someone has made to OSM. There's also something funny further west, around Le Havre. He says the problem will be solved by whoever made the change, but it's persisted now for quite a few iterations of his map. There does appear to be a conflict between his British Isles map and the one for Europe. However, the problem isn't replicated in OsmAnd, or in any of the other Garmin-related maps I use, which would suggest that OSM itself is OK. Any wisdom greatly appreciated! One of the replies I received was as follows: Those maps are generated with mkgmap, and this sort of problem happens occasionally when coastlines get broken in OSM. You might look at the archives for mkgmap-dev(a)lists.mkgmap.org.uk or perhaps post there directly. Any help with this would be much appreciated. I have MapSource screenshots available, but didn't attach them in case I messed anything up! Cheers!

Problem when splitter runs out of disk space

I recently had a problem where my disk filled up while running splitter, but splitter did not exit, continuing to run for over an hour before I looked at it and killed the process. I assume it was waiting for something which could never happen. Multiple pass cleanup possible with style?

Is it possible to run through certain parts of the style more than once? Use model: To reduce sizes I {deletealltags} of some small objects that I deem not important. However this sometimes ends up leaving some orphan ways that are no longer connected to anything. I'd like to delete these ways too, but seems like it does everything in one pass so these get left despite having a rule to remove them. How would one do something like this? I don't think I want to do this more than a few times but cleaning up the self-inflicted orphaned ways would be helpful. Thanks!
