where are the house numbers gone?

Hi . I have a strange behavior, the maps are generated, but no house numbers in the map. When the device searches for the address, it can find the street but not the house number. The map is build with the following statement java -Xmx12288m -Xms5120m -jar mkgmap-r4283\mkgmap.jar --gmapsupp --index --housenumbers --output-dir=C:\Users\Richard\Documents\work\map --mapname=5917 --description=Freiburg-Regbez --family-id=59170001 --family-name=Freiburg-Regbez --max-jobs --route --drive-on=detect,right --make-opposite-cycleways --bounds=C:\Users\Richard\Downloads\bounds-latest.zip --transparent --verbose C:\Users\Richard\Documents\work\splitter\59170001*.o5m Any hint what is going wrong? The house numbers where there in the past. Thanks Richard

Hi I noticed a while ago that "test-map:all-elements" stopped working correctly. The map it generated showed a box around the map area, but within the map area, the device said 'no-map' and didn't show anything, however POI searches did work. I tracked it down to a couple of lines added to mkgmap/build/MapBuilder.java : processInfo() if (!(src instanceof OverviewMapDataSource)) poiDisplayFlags |= TREHeader.POI_FLAG_DETAIL; poiDisplayFlags is byte 0x3f in TRE So: Old maps and old all-elements, with poiDisplayFlags = 0 worked. New maps, with poiDisplayFlags = POI_FLAG_DETAIL, work, but all -elements doesn't. One of differences between a typical map and all-elements is that all -elements doesn't output a standard background (polygon 0x4b covering the complete map area); changing it to do so, then all features get displayed. However, transparent maps don't have a standard background and they work. Trying option --transparent with the original version of all -elements makes it work. I don't know if this behaviour was known or expected, but I thought it worth-while to note it down in this post. I didn't want all-elements to have a standard background so I've added --transparent to the comment about how to invoke it, also a few other option suggestions. The other change I made was to show elements against a green background as well as no background, as I was having trouble spotting many line -types that my new device shows as white. Possible sea.zip Problem

Hi all as i do have since short time a new laptop with huge amount of memory and a big cpu, i was trying to build a garmin map for whole europe, because i was curious to see other countries beside of central europe.And while doing this, i found a possible error in the sea.zip file, which i got from osm.thkukuk.de/data. If you look at the screenshot attached you will see some grey polygons, which is named 'meer' as the other blue areas but is drawn in the colour of the background. So i assume an error in the sea-file .... or in the boundary files ? Setting mapset-name?

Hello, I'm in the process of moving some functionality from an old .osm processor into a mkgmap style, and I'd like to have both old and new styles on the device (a gpsmap64s) at the same time for comparison. Before I even got that far I couldn't find a way of changing the mapset name that is produced. The script I'm using is https://github.com/SomeoneElseOSM/mkgmap_style_ajt/blob/master/garmin_map_e… (be aware that that currently has some hardcoded paths in it). so I'm using "--gmapsupp" to create a ".img" file that I can copy to the device. ".../mkgmap/trunk/src/uk/me/parabola/mkgmap/combiners/GmapsuppBuilder.java" contains the default name of "OSM Map Set", and if I change the default there it does change the value I can see in the .img file. Despite that bit of code appearing to be reading an argument from somewhere, setting "--mapset name=" doesn't seem to work - mkgmap exits with "Invalid option: 'mapset-name'". Is there perhaps some order in which the arguments need to be applied? I've got one lot of input files (6*.osm.gz from splitter) some intermediate output files (6*.img) and then the final output from the --gmapsupp - gmapsupp.img, so it's not exactly clear what order would make sense. Having 2 mkgmap-generated files on one device at once

Following on from the other question about setting the mapset name, the other problem is just having both files on the device at once. Both .img files were created using mkgmap using the --gmapsupp parameter. I have an existing "gmapsupp.img", and I've renamed the new test one that I am creating to "ajt2supp.img" and have also tried setting the description of it via '--description="AJT2D" '. Setting the description works, in that if that's the only mkgmap-generated map on the device that's the description I see from the maps available from "select map". However, if I have both the old "gmapsupp.img" and the new "ajt2supp.img"on the device I only see "OSM Street Map" (the old description), not "AJT2D". I'm guessing it's some other name or perhaps the argument order that's the problem. I've tried other name settings such as --family-id=3 --product-id=44 --mapname=63240002 --product-version=2 --series-name="AJT2S" --family-name="AJT2F" --area-name="AJT2A", as well as --description="AJT2D", but to no avail. Possible Indexing Problem

Hi all last week i was playing around building new maps with mkgmap 4282 and the default style. Building smaller maps, i.e Nordrhein Westfalen, i don't see any problems but the last map i tried out was complete germany. And now it seems, that my device (GPSMAP 276Cx) will stuck while searching POIs or Adresses. Today i changed the image to be load onto the device and created it from MapSource instead the one build by mkgmap. The functionality is better, but even not 100%. My question for now is, is there a possibility to extract the index data out of the img File to check it on the PC and eventually modify the data ?

mkgmap -c problem (relative paths)

Hello, I use config files with mkgmap and define input-files using relative paths. Example from my config file "osm-options": mapname: 80100003 input-file: data/80100003.osm.pbf This works well when the config file is in the same directory where mkgmap is started. When invoked with "-c osm-options" mkgmap finds my input file just fine. To tidy up my environment I moved all my config files into a config subdirectory. Now when I invoke mkgmap with "-c config/osm-options" I get the following error: SEVERE (Main): .\config\data\80100003.osm.pbf: file .\config\data\80100003.osm.pbf doesn't exist It appears that mkgmap interprets my relative paths relative to the config file location, and not (as I expected) the mkgmap cwd! This seems to be a bug since the description for -c states: "The options are included as arguments of the executed command as if they had been specified on the command line." I tested using the latest r4282 on Windows. Regards, Ranko
