Version mkgmap-r4884 was committed by gerd on Sun, 30 Jan 2022 - fix long standing errors in the code that reads extended data (introduced with r2546) - method fetchPointsCommonExtType expected an offset for end but caller passed the size. Proably never did anything useful. Renamed to fetchPointsExtType (there is only one type) and fixed the error. - remove wrong copy+paste code which tried to read labels from NET for extended type lines. Not sure what it did with files that were not produced by mkgmap. Expect more data in overview map if the ovm_*.img files contain points with extended types (0x1xxxx). http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/websvn/revision.php?repname=mkgmap&rev=4884

Extended points are ignored for overview map?

Hi all, while working on RgnDisplay to display extended types I found a bug in mkgmap. The routine to fetch extended points (type 0x1xxxx) from the ovm_* files simply cannot work, it probably always ignores all points. So, if your style puts these types into the overview map levels expect more data once this is fixed... Gerd

Error in TreReader? Are our limits too small?

Hi programmers! Our code in TreFileReader differs from that in GPXSee treFile.cpp. Our code only reads 24 bits into field lastRgnOffset, but GPXSee reads up to 28 bits as offset. We assume 1 byte for the flags and 3 bytes for the offset. GPXSee assumes 4 bits for the flags and 28 bit for the offset. Since our flags field has values > 0x10 I think the code in GPXSee looks better. Not sure what that means. Maybe we can write larger tiles? Is MapSplitter.MAX_RGN_OFFSET_SIZE related to this? Gerd

finding out more about the size taken by elements in generated map

Hello, can someone recommend a way how I can learn more about what the detailed statistics in respect to the byte size of each element in the map generated by mkgmap? What I am looking for is something like: - lines: 3.2 MB - road_class 0: 1.3 MB - road_class 1: 1.2 MB - road_class 2: 0.3 MB .. - points: 1.0 MB - symbol 0x2c04: 0.3 MB - symbol 0x4c00: 0.2 MB Not sure if it makes any sense but the rationale behind is having an tool that would provide some hints as to which map details can be sacrificed when trying to cover the largest area of the map. Hi Gerd Looking at the mask logic in MdrDisplay printSect30/32 I'd guess that the pointer size is always governed by the size of Mdr31/33 and any extra bytes are something else, probably the length of the string. I've haven't managed to find any maps with these sections so I can't be sure. How big is the adriaTopo map and can you put it somewhere where I can download it to have a look and try on my device. If it is too big, maybe just the MDR subfile.
