Use mkgmap to change .typ file in gmapsupp.img

As mkgmap should have all the code needed for that - could there be a new function of mkgmap to exchange / write .typfile to an gmapsupp.img? Why? Well gmaptool is not running under newer OSx versions anymore (because it is 32 bit only, not 64 bit version existing) - and I do not know any other tool to do this. Alternatively - anyone knows another tool for this? Intended usage: mgkmap.jar --gmapsupp --family-id=XXXX --product-id=1 gmapsupp.img 123.typ I actually never tried if this is possible - but I assume not. (changing FID/PID is optional - I would not need it but maybe for consistency allow it too). -- Felix Hartman - Openmtbmap.org & VeloMap.org

Wrong Douglas-Peucker implementation?

Hi all, I've noticed that the line simplification in JOSM works different to the one in mkgmap. Both implement a Douglas-Peucker algo, so I wondered why. It turned out that JOSM calculates the distance of point `px` to the line through(!) end-points `p1` and `p2`, while mkgmap calculates the distance to the segment between(1) those points. So, they get the same distance when the perpendicular is on the segment, but very different values when not. This page helps to see the difference: https://karthaus.nl/rdp/ It would be a bit faster to use distToLineSegment() (like JOSM) instead of shortestDistToLineSegment() but I am not sure which result is better. Any thouhts? Gerd

Millions of DIAG outputs during map generation

Hi all, may be i've missed something in all the recent discussions. Using mkgmap r4745 or r4760 i get nearly hundreds of diag warnings as follows : DIAG: uk.me.parabola.imgfmt.app.net.RouteNode .\data\MYGERMANY\70030112.osm.pbf: Roundabout (http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/33755004) is connected to more than one road at http://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=50.209576&mlon=11.968477&zoom=17 i guess, i can simply ignore them but my question is, can i switch them off ? Greetings all, I know 4760 is not the current release version but have just compiled and executed it as normal. Have encountered this error when building my standard British Columbia map, with current geofabrik download. Possible style file error

Hi all as i had to search some cities in southern germany last week, i was wondering, why my GPSMAP 276Cx and also MapSource shows the french name for the river DONAU and not the german one. This happens only for default name display, not if i use the pointer to highlight the item. The curious thing is, for mostly all other rivers the device shows the correct german name, only the river Donau will be shown as DANUBE. Looking into JOSM i found no differences in tagging of these two rivers. Any idea where to change this behaviour ?
