Would it be possible to have the mkgmap:set_unconnected_type=... differentiate between conncected on both sides for lines and only connected on one side? For example I would like to delete all service=driveway shorther than 100m length if they are connected only on one side to another routable line - if they are in between I would like to keep them. Beaches as a polygon

Hi I noticed that the default style only renders Beaches as a point not a polygon. Beaches as a polygon may be unimportant to many but I feel that without them maps are very misleading and incomplete - see picture http://files.mkgmap.org.uk/download/437/beach.jpg (left default style , right with beach) Garmin deems them important as they are included as an option in their kmtf files for their City Navigator maps and nuvis etc. Given the fact that only a very limited number of polygons are used in a kmtf file, the beach inclusion seems quite significant. Problem sending maps to device with latest versions of BaseCamp

Hi all In the last two months or so I have received several complains from users of my maps reporting when they send map to device via BaseCamp, although process is completed successfully, map is not loaded in device or only partially. 4.6.2 seems to be last version sending maps correctly. Is it a bug in BaseCamp (or something intended by Garmin) or may be a problem in mkgmap generated maps?

Changing the name of a garmin img map?

Hi, I'm not sure whether this is an issue about options or their documentions. I'm using mkgmap to generate maps from openstreetmap for a garmin etrex. Although I am using all possible options as described in the --help=options output to set names, i.e. --description=... --country-name= --country-abbr= --region-name= --region-abbr= --area-name= --series-name= --family-name= (with option values, of course), but the map name contained in the file header and displayed in the etrex is still some generated by mkgmap and build from a 2-character County code and the first major city it finds, e.g. MV-Male for Maldives. As I do understand the --help=options output, the options listed above should change this name, as the help text says --family-name=name If you build several maps, this option describes the family name of all of your maps. Garmin will display this in the map selection screen. Example: --family-name="OpenStreetmap mkgmap XL 2019" --area-name=name Area name is displayed on Garmin units (or at least on eTrex) as the second part of the mapname in the list of the individual maps. Although I use this options, e.g. to call a map something like „Maldives”, it still shows this „MV-Male” (or „AE-Dubai” and so on). How can I change this name ? regards Hadmut

probably dumb question about style type

Hi, I feel like I'm missing something obvious… so sorry in advance… I'm new to this program. Starting from this https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin/POI_Types, I wanted to set points with tags 0x0050, 0x0051 etc, in a style For instance a line in the "points" file of the style to draw speed cameras... highway=speed_camera | enforcement=maxspeed | enforcement=traffic_signals [0x0052 resolution 24] When trying to add this line, I get Error in style: Error: invalid type 0x0052 for POINT in style file points, line 300 I'm using r4240 version. The command is mkgmap --dem=srtm --max-jobs --tdbfile --nsis --output-dir=target_dir --mapname=OSM_FRANCE_light --country-name="FRANCE" --family-id=6324 --family-name="OSM_light france" --series-name="OSM france map" --area-name="France" --country-abbr="FRA" --style-file=./road_only --precomp-sea=sea.zip --generate-sea --route --drive-on=detect,right --process-destination --process-exits --index --bounds=bounds.zip --location-autofill=is_in,nearest --x-split-name-index --housenumbers --remove-ovm-work-files --verbose -c ./template.args Regards Marc

Lake Garda... is empty

Folks, since sometime Lake Garda in Italy is not rendered correctly. I did not report this a few months ago since I was using an old version of mkgmap but I'm now using very latest one and fresh geofabrik pbf but the problem remains. At a first glance OSM data seems fine: https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/8569 Any idea? Attached screenshot from my Garmin device, the lake should be inside the ugly black line - note other smaller lakes are rendered correctly. Lake name is also missed. TYP compiling problem

Hi. I have a problem with TYPViewer v4.5.43 in Windows 10. There is a file change while saving. I get mixing icons and code types after Mkgmap Render! But in Windows 7 it works without this error. I began to try to understand this. And what I found out: TYPViewer v4.5.43 in Windows 7 writes the point code as Type = 0x11711 for example. A Windows 10 records the same point as Type = 0x117 SubType = 0x11 Mkgmap does not support this description correctly and compiles this point into a TYP file like: Type = 0x001 SubType = 0x11 How to eliminate this trouble when I use Windows 10? There are two files in the attachment: the original by Win7 and the saved by Win10.
