Hello, Transparency is not used only with contour lines. In my case, I use these two options for my OpenStreetMap layer and it works on BaseCamp and my Garmin Oregon 650 (and also on my old Etrex few years ago). David PS: if you wonder what layers are, see http://emerald-island.eu/wikka/GpsMap

Hi all, Please try r4116 [1] with normal splitter. I hope you don't see any more crashes in MapSource with the "Show Profile..." button or corresponding empty "Graphs" in Basecamp, even if you hgt files contain voids or if you use --dem-poly option. I also did not see any problems with routing, so I hope that the description for field at offset 0x3f in the wiki [2] is simply wrong. max-jobs patch

Hi Gerd, Please find attached a patch that amends the default behaviour if the --max-jobs option is not specified, to using a value equal to the number of CPU cores, as suggested in a previous post. The documentation is also amended to reflect the change. This halves the execution time of mkgmap for building a map of Staffordshire on my 8-core PC when --max-jobs is not specified (I didn't know about this option previously and was unaware the performance could have been improved). Hi all, I think I found the flag that has to be set to avoid the crash: The 1st bit at offset 0x3F in TRE must be 1, not 0. The wiki says about the meaning of this one byte field: Flags: 0: detailed map, 1: transparent map, 2: show street before street number, 3: show zip before city, 4-7: ?? When bit 0 is set routing is cancelled (wilpin) Any hints where this flag might cause trouble? Gerd

Strange error in mkgmap

Hi all, I stumbled over a problem in mkgmap when I build a map with my bikeroute style (an overlay-map to highlight bicycle routes) I get a non-functional map for bigger areas. There is no error message during the build process, just the resulting map file is faulty. When I remove some tiles the map is OK. It seems to be related to the size of the map, not the data itself. I composed a sample that produces a good and a bad map. Unfortunately the files are rather big. The smallest example I could build is ~600MB. It does not matter which one I remove. So there is no error in one single tile. It has to be a more complex problem.
