mkgmap:set_unconnected_type differentiate between connected on both sides or on one side only

Would it be possible to have the mkgmap:set_unconnected_type=... differentiate between conncected on both sides for lines and only connected on one side? For example I would like to delete all service=driveway shorther than 100m length if they are connected only on one side to another routable line - if they are in between I would like to keep them. default style improvements

Hi I'd like to make quite a few changes and improvements to the default style. Some of these should be non-contentious: The first change I propose is to make the layout consistent and clearer and I've attached a patch to do this for the points/lines/polygons files. The only change here is white-space (blanks, tabs, new-lines), no other characters have been changed. I've used: $ java ... uk.me.parabola.mkgmap.osmstyle.StyleImpl pathTo/default to check there are no semantic changes, but this program fails to dump the <finalize> section, so I've checked these very carefully via other methods. Next changes I am thinking of are: Simple layout where character changes are involved Provide more information on unnamed objects where a good garmin mapping hasn't been found, eg, after all the shop=known ... lines there is a mop-up: shop=* & shop!=no & shop!=none [0x2e0c resolution 24] changing this to: shop=* & shop!=no & shop!=none {add name='${shop|subst:"_=> "}'} [0x2e0c resolution 24] will name unnamed shops with the value of the shop tag. There are about 15 sections that benefit from this. Add more commonly used tag-values, eg: tourism=bed_and_breakfast [0x2b02 resolution 24] and other mop-ups I think these sort of changes should be applied to the trunk After this, the changes I'm thinking of will require more discussion. One thing I think I missed, is that each tile on a garmin device needs a unique mapid. A different family-id and mapname for each gmap is not sufficient. Does this sound correct? I'd been downloading US states from Geofabrik, creating maps with unique family-id, mapname, every name & id that seemed important, (with mkgmap) but when I put them on the Garmin they all wouldn't show up. Only when I went back to the splitter step & used a different mapid did they all show up. Sometimes I'm not too good at reading directions, did I overlook this someplace? Brad

mkgmap crashing with non-OSM data

Hello all, I'm working on a project to combine OSM data with TIGER census data for better street addressing. Mostly everything is working, but mkgmap will consistently crash with a tile created by splitter for a region in California. I've uploaded the tile that is crashing to http://moongate.ydns.eu/tiger_versus_python/42050139_evil.osm.pbf When I convert the tile to OSM format, open it up in Emacs, and take out all of the nodes I added (all the negative-ID ones), the entire map including this tile can be created without error. There are other tiles in the western US that have crashed in the past, too, but, strangely, they only crash when I try to create a map for the whole country, not just the western region, and so I think the 42050139 tile is the one to look at to figure out how to fix it. name-tag-list breaks address search?

Does using the mkgmap option "name-tag-list" break the address search? If I use this line in my template.args: 'name-tag-list="name:de,name"' address search does not work in my Gpsmap 64S. Mapedit++ shows '? (, ?,DEU)' for streets in the address field. If Í remove the option everything is fine. I can search in the Gpsmap and Mapedit++ shows e.g. 'BAMBERG (, BAYERN, DEU)'. My other address related options are: location-autofill=bounds,is_in,nearest bounds=/data/gps/bounds_181221 The bounds directory is downloaded from osm.thkukuk.de. I use mkgmap r4259 with openjdk 1.8.0_191 on linux.

On the forum "Arie" reports the following issue: "Using the tag amenity: shelter, shelter_type: public_transport displays a TENT symbol on the map downloaded in free worldwide Garmin maps. When you look at it on the openstreetmap.org map it shows a shelter symbol. Is it possible to use another symbol on the Garmin maps? It looks silly to see all the tents around town when you use the map." Solution: exclude shelter_type: public_transport amenity=shelter & shelter_type!=public_transport [0x2b06 resolution 24 default_name 'Shelter'] And add a rule after or before this line, for example amenity=shelter & shelter_type=public_transport [0x2f17 resolution 24] I don't know if 0x2f17 is appropriate, it is used for bus stops etc but it is better than a tent (0x2b06)
