Mapsource crashes while calculating a route

Hi, I have observed crashes for some time. Mapsource 6.16.3 indicates a bug in module MPL_MAP.CPP. Basecamp reports an error or goes into infinite loop. Now I have extracted minimal source data, which creates faulty map. Removing any road or even a crossing point restore routing. Bug exist in mkgmap r2815, r2857, r2889, r2975 and r2976. Map created by mkgmap r2795 works correctly. I'm attaching here files to reproduce problem: mkgmap.bat - batch, which I have used to create the map, test-a.pbf - very simple OSM source data, route.gpx - short route, which causes a crash in Mapsource. -- Best regards, Andrzej

Just one icon for "noexit" ?

Hi, Does someone have a tip to display a no exit icon only at the end of a way ? http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:noexit The tag "noexit" can be on a way or on a point. I use "--add-pois-to-lines", resulting in an icon for all the points of the line and it's too much ! Got just "noexit=yes [0x2802 resolution 24]" in my points file. Steph

Question about high density Contour Lines

Hello Is there a limit of minimum Contour-Line spacing ? Because my own created Contour-Lines look a little squared and overlap each other. I use Global-Mapper to export Contour-Lines as a .osm File. So mkgmap should be able to convert the Contour-Lines into a Garmin Map. Can anyone tell me how to create ContourLines with a spacing of 1m or 50cm as a separate Map? glg Markus

Question about the overview map

Is it true that the overview map is only used by Mapsource and Bascamp on the PC, but does not work on the mobile devices themselves ? I'm looking for a solution for the following problem: When you zoom out to a really big scale ( 100km for instance ) the Oregon will not be able to render all of the display area. Of course the map is large enough ( DACH ) , but if you zoom out to show all of Germany at once the Oregon can not handle this. I suspect that it has to scan all the 3.8GB of my dach.img for elements to display and this is simply too much. I thought that an overview map might fix this problem. Is there any way to get an overview map working on the mobile device, or do we have to avoid zooming out too far? Map Background Colour

I am trying to set the background on my maps away from the standard "yellow-orage" colour, I am tried setting the colour of polygon 0x04b to white, and assigning it to layer 1, with no other polygons set to 1 there are all at level 2 and higher, when i look at the map in basecamp, the map background is now white, but all the other polygons have disappeared. the lines and points are still visible. What have I done wrong ? Gary

Create Test map

Hi, I am looking for a way to create a dummy OSM file so I can test icons and styles without actually adding them to the real OSM database. Let's say I'm working on a new icon, or a style rule, and want to run several tests to make sure the statements are correct and the icon looks good. Another use for such a file would be so I could see all my custom icons grouped close enough together to fit in one Basecamp screen shot. Thanks for that Gerd but (at the moment) I'm not interested in searching for addresses. All I want is to be able to see a map with house numbers on.

Minimum size for a "_link" to process "destination"

Hi mkgmap developers, I noticed that when a "_link" containing the tag "destination" (trunk_link, for example) is too small, mkgmap doesn't preprocesse the exit (set dest_hint). For example, if this "_link" has only 8 meters size, no destination nor exit hint is generated by mkgmap for this specific "_link". Could you tell me the "_exit" minimum lenght considered by mkgmap to process destination hint? Thanks. Best regards, Alexandre Loss

startin' out: house numbers

On the web version of OSM there are house numbers shown for Runcorn (where I'm a postie). I'd like to show these on my GPS too so I can find my way around. I've managed to export the data, run it through mkgmap 3676 and downloaded the img to my Oregon. It works but there are no house numbers shown. I guess I need to play with styles but am at a loss where to start. Any pointers?

Garmin Contour Lines

Hi Is it in general possible to convert high detailed Height- Lines to a garmin Map ? High Detailed means Lines with 1m distance in height. I tried but my Lines look useless because they look cross-connected So how to generate such contour lines ? glg Markus
