Question about non-routable ways removed by WrongAngleFixer

There are several warnings in my log of the type below. I have check some of them and they all seem to be waterway=* ways. Why are these waterways (and no others) removed? Could it be avoided? (WrongAngleFixer): non-routable way 183447340 was removed (WrongAngleFixer): non-routable way 358689387 was removed (WrongAngleFixer): non-routable way 358689379 was removed There are also some warnings referring to mkgmap generated ways that can't be checked. These warnings seem useless. Perhaps a check to omit ways with id greater than a given number could be used: (WrongAngleFixer): non-routable way 4611686018427769516 was removed (WrongAngleFixer): non-routable way 4611686018427769586 was removed (WrongAngleFixer): non-routable way 4611686018427769437 was removed

According to wiki [1] motorway_junction may be used not only on motorway, but on other ways with named or numbered junctions, such as [2]. IMHO mkgmap shouldn't throw a warning in those cases. Regarding highway=services, if I recall right, it could be used time ago for exits that lead to service areas, but according to current wiki description [3] they are now only used for the place near the motorway where you can get the service (fuel, food, etc.) and then there's no need for them to be placed on a highway=* way. Warnings from places like [4] doesn't make much sense. Could it be reviewed to avoid checking things that don't need to be fixed? Garmin bicycle routing algorithm

Hello, I apologize if this question is off-topic for this list. I am trying to get an idea about how the bicycle routing of Basecamp 4.4.8 works (or eTrex 20x, which is the unit I have) and how it differs from car/automotive routing. I wonder if others in this list could enlighten me. From the information I was able to gather, automotive routing works like this: - fastest speed: gives preference to higher road_class - shortest route: disregards road_class, calculates shortest route In both cases road_speed is only used for ETA and not route calculation (or has a very low weight). However, does bicycle routing works in the same way? I found confliction information on this point: when using 'fastest speed', some say that *lower* classes are preferred (due to roads being less busy) but most dedicated cycle maps that I have encountered (for example ligfietser's most excellent OpenFietsMap) use higher classes for more desirable roads and claim that the map can be used in both automotive and bicycle mode. And what about 'shortest route': does it disregard road_class like automotive mode? And how 'bicycle' and 'tour cycling' differ? I'm going to create a custom OSM map and a custom style in order to get some more clues and share the findings with the list but I would appreciate if somebody with the knowledge could shed some light into these issues. No cities found

Hi all, - Tested with ‘etrex 30’ and (very old) ‘etrex Vista Cx’. - Issue with my last map of France: big file (perhaps the problem), 1.6 Go, but not with the map for French Guiana, 4 Mo. - mkgmap-r3620 On the devices, I can search an address, with city's name, country. All is found. But if I search with ‘Where To?’ -> Cities, I found nothing ! Files, options are the same. Just, France gmapsupp is bigger ! option to omit road refs from index

Hi Gerd, please find attached a patch that adds a new option --omit-highway-refs-from-index, that causes labels containing highway shields to be omitted from the address index. Please try and commit if you are happy with it. Note, I am on holiday for the next week, so if it needs any changes, I will look at it when I get back. Regards, Mike

mkgmap creation problem

Hi, I try to compile europe maps but I receive the following error: mkgmap Exception in thread "main" java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: I tested this procedure on laptop and my PC. Both has a powerful configuration (8GB) My PC has java version:java version "1.7.0_79" (Oracle) with Ubuntu OS on my laptop I use the newest 1.8.0_45 (Oracle) with Ubuntu OS I'm using the following command: java -jar -Xmx4096m mkgmap/mkgmap.jar --mapname=43000001 --route --add-pois-to-areas --tdbfile --index --bounds=dane/bounds_20150620.zip --remove-ovm-work-files=true --output-dir=/tmp/map_compiled --precomp-sea=dane/sea_20150630.zip --make-opposite-cycleways --style-file=mkgmap-style-sheets-read-only/styles/world --verbose --gmapsupp -c map_splitted/template.args Please suggest what else can I do with this problem Regards, Maciej Moczulski
