Mapsource crashes while calculating a route

Hi, I have observed crashes for some time. Mapsource 6.16.3 indicates a bug in module MPL_MAP.CPP. Basecamp reports an error or goes into infinite loop. Now I have extracted minimal source data, which creates faulty map. Removing any road or even a crossing point restore routing. Bug exist in mkgmap r2815, r2857, r2889, r2975 and r2976. Map created by mkgmap r2795 works correctly. I'm attaching here files to reproduce problem: mkgmap.bat - batch, which I have used to create the map, test-a.pbf - very simple OSM source data, route.gpx - short route, which causes a crash in Mapsource. -- Best regards, Andrzej

process-exits vs process-destination

Hi all, is there a way to combine the features process-exits and process-destination in a single style ? Based on my experience process-desitnation does a marvellous job when entering a motorway ( does it also work with also trunk roads ? ), while process-extis is perfect when leaving a motorway or trunk road. For instance the roundabout here http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=47.89665&lon=10.64805&zoom=17 has two exits towards the B12. Routing from the "Sudetenstraße" going North (maybe towards Augsburg) I would like the Garmin device to announce "5 th Exit - B12 (München)". On the other hand routing to the South (maybe Kempten) it should announce "2nd exit - B12 (Kempten)". Using process-exits this does not work, it's only "5th Exit - B12" resp. "2nd Exit - B12". I would have to use process-destination instead to get the desired messages displayed. Coming home from the trip, routing from the B12 towards "Sudetenstraße" I would like "exit to the right - Exit Kaufbeuren". Using process-exits this works perfectly. Would I use process-destination I would get "exit to the right towards B12 Verteilerring" or even "exit to the right towards Sudetenstraße" a really useless announcement as the sign on the trunk road reads "Kaufbeuren / Neugablonz / Mauerstetten". So this is why I would like to have an option that combines the functionality of process-exits and process-destination. Do you see any way to achieve this in one single style ? Ciao, Franco

question about ignored no_u_turn restriction

Hi everybody, I recently noticed a bunch of warning messages about ignored no_u_turn restrictions. Here's an example: 2015/07/04 18:12:50 WARNING (RestrictionRelation): 17244023.o5m: Turn restriction (no_u_turn) http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/4630872 (at http://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=41.890540&mlon=-87.805101&zoom=17) no_u_turn with equal 'from' and 'to' way and via node is ignored Looking at the rules for restrictions and the relation itself, I can't see what the problem is. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Relation:restriction http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/4630872 Does anybody know why this particular restriction is being ignored? Numbering loss in the version which came after the r3602

Hi Gerd, Since yesterday we (a group that compiles maps in Brazil) begin to see some loss of numbers in some of our maps. As we had never had this problem before, I suspected that the error could have been introduced in some recent version of mkgmap. So, I restored some old releases for testing and I found that the numbering were generated correctly until release 3602 as seen in the image below in the white-box ("390 Rua Porto Alegre"): *Snapshot taken form MapSource of a map compiled wiht mkgmap r3602* [image: Imagem inline 1] Using the same source osm file, the numbering is lost in the street "Rua Porto Alegre" (for example), if the map is compiled with any newer release of mkgmap than 3602. Hi Gerd, ideally I was looking for a solution where we had something like mkgmap:noindex in the style to cause the label to be omitted from the index. I had a look at implementing this but came unstuck because as far as I can tell, the code that adds the index creates this from data that it reads back from the img file, which of course doesn't contain any mkgmap specific information. There are a number of cases where mkgmap:noindex would be useful: In the case where highway shields are used, I would prefer not to include the road number in the address index, so that when you type "A" you just get road names beginning with A, instead of A1, A11, A135 etc. I allow (walking) routing along piers, the edges of carparks and other non-highways. If these have names, they also get included as road names in the address index and I would prefer to omit them. I came up with the -- omit-highway-refs-from-index code as an alternative that achieved something of what I wanted, but if you can suggest a way to do this from the style, that would be better. Hello, i saw your blog in the internet concerning edge 705. You wrote, that it is possible to make a firmware update via SD-card. Is this possible? If yes how should i do this? Just copy the GCD file on the SD card? My edge shows a similar phenomenon, it can’t store any activity data on the USB mass storage but you can access its mass storage via PC / Mac. I would like to update the firmware again but did not succeed. Did you solve your problem? Thank you and regards Peter

Name of maps in BaseCamp MAC emty

Hello, on a Mac System, BaseCamp dont´t show a mapname. In the List is an emty Line. I build the tdb after building the map. This are the options: family-id=2020 product-id=1 region-name=SpeicheCanaren description=SpeicheCanaren series-name=SpeicheCanaren family-name=SpeicheCanaren area-name=SpeicheCanaren overview-mapname=SpeicheCanaren show-profiles=1 tdbfile When i build the tdb with gmaptool, the name is OK. What ist missing? I have taken both tdb at this email. SpeicheCanaren.tdb is the one buid with mkgmap mapset.tdb is build with gmaptool Thank you for help. (gmap build with Garmin MapConverter, both, tdb with mkgmap and tdb with gmaptool) Best regaards Arndt

routing bug after r3602

Hi, On the Dutch osm forum a routing bug was reported, http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=31714 It is this route in Amsterdam: http://osrm.at/dR7 I have traced it down and found out that this bug is introduced between mkgmap-r3602 and r3616, the car routing now makes a detour via Olympiaweg/Olympiakade like http://osrm.at/dRh

Version mkgmap-r3625 was committed by gerd on Tue, 28 Jul 2015 fix possible routing error caused by wrong bearing calculation: The search for a non-equal point stopped too early The error was old, but more likely to occur since the merge of the housenumber2 branch (r3605), as this branch might add number nodes which with equal coordinates as existing routing nodes.
