Mapsource crashes while calculating a route

Hi, I have observed crashes for some time. Mapsource 6.16.3 indicates a bug in module MPL_MAP.CPP. Basecamp reports an error or goes into infinite loop. Now I have extracted minimal source data, which creates faulty map. Removing any road or even a crossing point restore routing. Bug exist in mkgmap r2815, r2857, r2889, r2975 and r2976. Map created by mkgmap r2795 works correctly. I'm attaching here files to reproduce problem: mkgmap.bat - batch, which I have used to create the map, test-a.pbf - very simple OSM source data, route.gpx - short route, which causes a crash in Mapsource. -- Best regards, Andrzej

Address search index questions.

Hello there, i have just started to use mkgmap a few days ago and managed to do everything i wanted without issues. However, i have a question that i can not find already answered anywhere: The fact that address search only works (on a garmin device) when the search string starts with the exact same characters of the matches is a limitation on the Garmin OS, on mkgmap, or am i doing something wrong ? For example, if the street name is “Manuel Belgrano”, and i search for “belgrano”, i will never get a match, however, if i search for “manuel”, i will get a match. Same happens for cities. Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks. // Diego

Slash character in name

For destinations or names with more than one line, it's common to have each line separated by a forward slash. I've tried to customize my map to replace semicolon with slash, but the slash does not appear. Is the slash an allowed character in a name or destination? I'm using the Latin1 character set. Brian

Country unification in address search

Am I alone with the problem that for any country the unification of countries to a single choice in address search is not fully working? e.g. in Austria I get: Österreich (AUT) --- most addresses are found under this entry. Austria (AT) // AT (Austria)-- nearly no addresses found here - but it exists so some addresses are classified like this Aut -- find every result twice - but in essence it's the same as Österreich (AUT) I thought * <country name="Österreich" abr="AUT" streetBeforeHousenumber="true" postalcodeBeforeCity="true"> <variant>Austria</variant> <variant>AT</variant> <variant>AUT</variant> <variant>Oesterreich</variant> <variant>Oestereich</variant> <variant>Östereich</variant> </country>* in locatorconfig.xml should solve this. [Patch v1] improve highway rules

Hi all, I think the following lines shoud be added to the lines rules to make sure that these ways are not used for routing. For many of them I've tried to convince the mappers to find better tags, but without success so far. Some are part of proposals. # Remove highway tag from ways which are not suitable for routing highway=traffic_signals | highway=junction | highway=island | highway=centre_line | highway=traffic_island {delete highway} highway=piste | highway=ski {delete highway} highway=no | highway=none {delete highway} If I hear no complains I'll commit this patch on Monday. No address match for highway=pedestrian?

I have found several cases where mkgmap complains no road is found for a given address but there's a pedestrian highway with the correct name next to the address nodes/ways. When on a highway has more than one REF example http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/130063945 The REF BOX not appear in both the MapSource as the GPS is hidden.
