Mapsource crashes while calculating a route

Hi, I have observed crashes for some time. Mapsource 6.16.3 indicates a bug in module MPL_MAP.CPP. Basecamp reports an error or goes into infinite loop. Now I have extracted minimal source data, which creates faulty map. Removing any road or even a crossing point restore routing. Bug exist in mkgmap r2815, r2857, r2889, r2975 and r2976. Map created by mkgmap r2795 works correctly. I'm attaching here files to reproduce problem: mkgmap.bat - batch, which I have used to create the map, test-a.pbf - very simple OSM source data, route.gpx - short route, which causes a crash in Mapsource. -- Best regards, Andrzej

Country unification in address search

Am I alone with the problem that for any country the unification of countries to a single choice in address search is not fully working? e.g. in Austria I get: Österreich (AUT) --- most addresses are found under this entry. Austria (AT) // AT (Austria)-- nearly no addresses found here - but it exists so some addresses are classified like this Aut -- find every result twice - but in essence it's the same as Österreich (AUT) I thought * <country name="Österreich" abr="AUT" streetBeforeHousenumber="true" postalcodeBeforeCity="true"> <variant>Austria</variant> <variant>AT</variant> <variant>AUT</variant> <variant>Oesterreich</variant> <variant>Oestereich</variant> <variant>Östereich</variant> </country>* in locatorconfig.xml should solve this. postcodes

Hi all, I currently have a list of postcodes added to my map, and can see them in the Postal Code field of the Find Addresses option in basecamp, but they are not linked to any roads/houses, so any address searches with postcodes do not find anything. Can anyone please explain what I need to do to get postcodes working properly? There is a brief mention of mkgmap:postcode in the help, but it doesn't explain how to use it, and anyway, I only have the centre points of the postcodes rather than their enclosing areas. ok i have found my problem , but now wondering is it because some things have changed and knoced out some of the high way = trunk commands under 0x02 #highway=trunk & ( network=e-road | int_ref=* ) [0x02 resolution 24-18 continue] #highway=trunk [0x02 road_class=4 road_speed=5 resolution 24-18] Stephen

when i use a pbf file from another source . eg osm2garmin with extract of australia_nz.pbf i some how get with my list of poi , a 0x02 problem meaning a error occures with a routable way with a non route way . What do i need to look for in my poi file ? Stephen

Commit: r3652: hide abandoned highways in the default style. Abandoned highways have some evidence of their former existence but are no longer used.

Hi Gerd, Here's a patch to hide abandoned highways in the default style. Abandoned highways have some evidence of their former existence but are no longer used. I made a separate rule for this change to highlight that abandoned highways could be useful in topographical maps. https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:abandoned: The rule also matches highway=abandoned. While not an official OSM rule, it is being used in the US an Europe: https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/tags/highway=abandoned#map I also found a German wiki page for it but not a page in English: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/DE:Tag:highway%3Dabandoned Let me know what you think. routing error: r3650 default style

Using my own style and mkgmap default style (r3650 and previous releases) I struggle with an odd routing error on Garmin maps while routing between N37 52.116 W25 48.576 and N37 52.120 W25 48.573 (its on Sao Miguel Island on the Azores). I checked the OSM raw data with JOSM and found no reason for that behaviour. I guess, node http://www.openstreetmap.org/node/1838670264 causes the problem. I use the PBF file from geofabrik ( http://download.geofabrik.de/europe/azores-latest.osm.pbf ) and tried different versions since Aug 2015. The error occures on Mapsource, Basecamp, nüvi2xx, eTrex Vista and 30 (so I guess its a general effect). But, when I load the img file to GPSMapEdit 2.1 and test the routing graph the routing works fine. Can some clarify my confusion, please? Best regards, Jörn

Lines from the Unit-BaseMap in the gmapsupp

Hello, BC reads the gmapsupp from the gps Unit (Oregon600). BC shows not only the gmapsupp, the BaseMap from the Oregon is shown too. There is a picture at this mail. In this example the "B9" ist not at the same place. Why? Hope, you understand what i mean, my english ist not very good :)) Greets Arndt
