highway-symbol for maxspeed?

I was trying to show maxspeed information on the map. In the lines file, I added highway=* & maxspeed=* {addlabel '${maxspeed}'} which replaced the name by maxspeed. Next, I looked at some examples in the default style which add ref as a label (but whose syntax I do not understand - looks more like changing the value fo the name tag), and tried to adjust it for maxspeed: highway=* & maxspeed=* { ${maxspeed|highway-symbol:hbox}; addlabel '${maxspeed}'} fails with an error message. Do I need to add the result to some variable? I tried highway=* & maxspeed=* {set x='${maxspeed|highway-symbol:hbox}'; addlabel '${maxspeed}' ; } no - that repalces name by maxspeed again. Is it possible to add such markers as are used for reference numbers to the highways which show maxspeed instead of something else? If so, how can that be achieved? Thanks a lot for your hints.

Rendering of emergency access points

Hi everybody, today I received an eMail from Niedersächsische Landesforsten (a governmental organisation for forestry in Germany) about actuality of emergency access points. Don't know what they want exactly, but I think I'm not the only one who is rendering these points. So did anyone else received such an eMail? Henning

Map to Garmin

Hi, in the latest days I have this strange problem: when I see my map in MapSource I see that: <http://gis.19327.n5.nabble.com/file/n5817396/Immagine1.jpg> but when I transfer the map on my Garmin Oregon 600 I see that: <http://gis.19327.n5.nabble.com/file/n5817396/Immagine2.jpg> it looks like the Garmin ignore my style.typ. What can I do? The mkgmap and the splitter are the latest release. Command to transliterate Characters/Cyrillic/Greek into latin1 even for Unicode maps?

The standard behavior so far for my maps in Japan or China was to use --latin1, and hope that all towns/cities/names if not name:en present - got transliterated decently into latin characters. However if using Unicode this is of course not happening. Could there be a command like {set name='${mkgmap:trans:name}' } That way one could build a map that is usable for people who do understand the local script/language, and who don't by setting all names e.g. name=('name:en|name:int|mkgmap:trans:name''(name in e.g. Japanese Script) ' Even better would of course be if there would be an additional function to check if "name" is already in two scripts - this is often the case for Japan or Thailand or Singapore... Dunno if that is easy to implement. I hope/guess the above /mkgmap:trans:name/ would be easy, as the code exists if you use e.g. --latin1. -- keep on biking and discovering new trails Felix openmtbmap.org & www.velomap.org

Crash in fixAnglesInShape

Hi A bug was reported which I can reproduce with the following stack trace: java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException: Index: 0, Size: 0 at java.util.ArrayList.rangeCheck(ArrayList.java:635) at java.util.ArrayList.get(ArrayList.java:411) at uk.me.parabola.mkgmap.osmstyle.WrongAngleFixer.fixAnglesInShape(WrongAngleFixer.java:1401) at uk.me.parabola.mkgmap.filters.ShapeMergeFilter.merge(ShapeMergeFilter.java:123) at uk.me.parabola.mkgmap.build.MapBuilder.processShapes(MapBuilder.java:1075) at uk.me.parabola.mkgmap.build.MapBuilder.makeSubdivision(MapBuilder.java:740) This is caused by a shape that consists of many points very close together eg: [2405169/355005, 2405169/355004, 2405169/355004, 2405169/355001, 2405169/355001, 2405169/355001, 2405164/355001, 2405164/355001, 2405164/355001, 2405164/355005, 2405164/355009, 2405164/355009, 2405164/355009, 2405169/355009, 2405169/355009, 2405169/355009, 2405169/355007, 2405169/355007, 2405169/355005] This results in the modifiedPoints list inside fixAnglesInShape() to be empty. The caller expects an empty list, but the last line that closes the polygon fails if the list is empty. The attached patch fixes the crash, but perhaps the situation should be dealt with differently. Version mkgmap-r3335 was committed by wanmil on Wed, 03 Sep 2014 Prevent a possible NullPointerException is house number generator I could not reproduce the exception reported on the german OSM forum. But the check is required in any case. If an empty way is used as HousenumberMatch the getLocation() returns null which is not catched. Now use only elements that have getLocation() != null. Issue an error message in such a case.

Doubt about administrative boundaries

Does mkgmap support administrative boundaries defined only by relations? (ie, there isn't any kind of tag in the ways)
