I get the following on creating a gmapsupp with mkgmap and unicode - but no such missing page notices when creating the maps themselves... I don't think so. Language setup lets you choose one language and then GPS displays only one language. It doesn't make sense a bilingual display. They're not like printed street signs, etc. Furthermore, this hypothesis doesn't explain a Garmin made map displayed without such characteristic in the same GPS. Combining maps with differerent charset/code page into one mapset - Supress Warnings -

I use to add readily compiled contourline files to my maps. They are in --latin1 and don't have any information that would be needed to appear in the search index. I will then always get warnings like the following - even though the maps seem to work fine in Mapsource, Basecamp and on my GPS.. /WARNING: input file 73630000.img has different code page 1252// //WARNING: input file 73630000.img has different charset type 10// //WARNING: input files have different code pages// / (e.g. ftp://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/misc/openstreetmap/openmtbmap/odbl/mtbmonaco.exe - just unzip the .exe - it's lzma packed. there is one "map data" file 63630000.img - one contourlines file 73730000.img - and then a "mapsetx" set of files which excludes the 73730000.img, one "mapsetc" set of files which includes the 7373000.img (well and then one mapsetz which is for installing the contourlines as separate contourlines only map)) Sometimes on bigger maps - mkgmap even crashes while running due to the codepage/charset option - e.g. if I create a map of Europe... Redundant information in city search results

Greetings, I was testing a map compiled with mkgmap and I tried search in "Cities" category. The search result screen capture is attached. Notice that for each city the same text is unnecessarily repeated, taking up display space. I know this could be avoided because I've seen a Garmin-made map (City Navigator, compiled with Garmin's MPC) on the same GPS model that doesn't display such redundant information. I don't know whether this is something up to mkgamp logic or something I must work on my style files. If the second is the case, then I'd like to know some tips on how to avoid such duplication. Sorry, the cap is in Portuguese, but I think you'll recognize what's going on. Problem with multiple TYP files

Hi All, I'm a in the process of creating my first map with mkgmap (r3310) and have successfully managed to produce two gmapsupp.img files each with its own family id and TYP file. The next step is to combine these two IMG files into a single file for copying onto the GPS, however when I issue the following command: mkgmap --gmapsupp map1.img map2.img the resulting gmapsupp.img file only contains the TYP file from the last input file. Is this a bug in mkgmap or have I missed something? -- Regards, Andy Street

route=ferry not working

Hi, there was a question on a german forum how to route over route=ferry. The following line rules (added to default style) do not work: route=ferry { add mkgmap:ferry=yes } [0x1a road_class=3 road_speed=0 resolution 19] or route=ferry { add mkgmap:ferry=yes } [0x1b road_class=3 road_speed=0 resolution 19] The ferry is displayed but is not used for routing (using Mapsource - avoiding ferry is not checked). Is anyone able to route over ferries or is it regression? (I remeber that I was able to route over ferries some time ago). I have checked that the ferry is connected correctly to a highway so it should not be a data problem. WanMil

House numbers and styles

I have some rules which modify name, addr:street and mkgmap:street in "lines" and "points" which apply some transformations to the street names. The idea is to normalise the names by removing punctuation and standardising abbreviations. The resulting map is missing the house numbers for streets whose name I have modified. In the style rules, I apply identical transformations to the way (looking for highway=* & name=*) and points (looking for addr:street and mkgmap:street, separately of course). I expect that mkgmap can match up the address nodes with the street because the street names are still identical, but something is not working right. The modified street name is working fine - that is displayed and is in the index (i.e. I can search for it as a destination). However for these streets only, there don't seem to be any house numbers present. A search for a specific (existing) number on the road finds the road with no numbers, at the centroid of the street. Other streets whose names don't get changed, will allow me to find a specific house number and get the location right as well. Does anyone have any ideas what might be going wrong here? Am I trying to do something that can never work? Is it possible that something in the address handling in mkgmap is using the original street name, before the style has been applied? Is it possible that the styles don't get applied to address-only nodes? Need help with Regex Substition

Hi all, 1. well the regex commands are a bit too difficult to understand for me. So I would need some practical help.. So I have the following a)Key="420 m" b)Key="420m" c)Key="420" d)Key="420ft" I want it to return number only in Key3, and number plus uni in Key2. I assume if no unit is given in value, value is "m" so I would like to end up with a)Key2=420m and Key3=420 b)Key2=420m and Key3=420 c)Key2=420m and Key3=420 d)Key2=420ft and Key3=128.016 So I would first need to filter out ft - and then use ${Key|height:"ft=>m"} and set Key2=valueft then filter out the space for a) leave b) intact, and add m to c)... 2. I'm not sure if this is possible. But I would like to remove part of a key. So I have e.g. AT:source:maxspeed= DE:source:maxspeed= ITA:source:maxspeed= and I want to test for source:maxspeed= However I think *:source:maxspeed= is not a working command.
