Hi all, attached is a patch for the high-prec branch. It tries to encode the curve bytes as suggested by Steve in the display docu nod.txt. I don't see big effects in MapSource, but maybe so called active routing works better with this? @Steve: Please have a look at it. Gerd

Hi Steve, if I got that change in display tool r383 right, the Table A records should just distinguish different RoadDefs ? Is the attached patch ok? It reduces NOD size quite heavily, but seems to work fine. Gerd

bug in transparent map?

I dont know if this is a bug or a setting that I haven't used correctly, but if I use --transparent in combination with some lines that are also present in the overview map levels, they are visible at lower zoom too: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5eg4470narcbm70/transparent.jpg The thinner lines need to be rendered only in the overview map levels. Somehow you can still see the overview map behind the normal tiles in Mapsource/Basecamp. In my lines style I have the following lines: route=hoofd [0x10601 resolution 15-18 continue] route=hoofd [0x10602 resolution 19] route=alternatief [0x10603 resolution 15-18 continue] route=alternatief [0x10604 resolution 19] options file levels = 0:24, 1:23, 2:22, 3:20, 4:18 overview-levels = 5:17, 6:15, 7:14

Incorrectly interpolated numbers in small segment of a street

Greetins, The attached OSM file is what I'm using in my tests. I'm now able to compile the map with the house numbers ok. But there is a problem (bug?). Only a street called "Rua Armando Santos" has street numbers. How to reproduce: 1) Compile the attached map with this command: java -jar mkgmap.jar --output-dir=saida --housenumbers --draw-priority=255 --latin1 --index --remove-short-arcs --route --gmapsupp recreio2.osm ; 2) Copy the gmapsupp.img to a Garmin GPS; 3) In the GPS, Park the pointer over the "Rua Armando Santos" street. In the longer segment of the street, interpolation is fine, but in the shorter segment you can only find the four numbers defined in the OSM map (19, 20, 41, 42). I was expecting to find in between numbers such as 35, 28, 22, etc. Is that a problem with the map or there is a small bug in mkgmap? The build number of mkgmap I'm using is 2998. House numbers not being generated

Greetings, I'm trying to compile the small OSM file attached with the following command: java -jar mkgmap.jar --output-dir=saida --housenumbers --latin1 --index --remove-short-arcs --gmapsupp recreio2.osm Check list: 1) Nodes with the house numbers have both addr:housenumber and addr:street correctly setup; 2) The way (called "Rua Armando Santos") is less than 150m from the nodes; 3) The default style file has the following rule: # Assign the street name for house number search highway=* & name=* { set mkgmap:street='${name}' } 4) The --housenumbers is present in the mkgmap call. Still the resulting gmapsupp.img lacks the house numbers in the "Rua Armando Santos" when I hover the pointer over it in my Nuvi 255w to test it. If I compile a map in .MP format, the house numbers show beautifully. What am I doing wrong? thanks, Paulo

Hi all, FYI: I plan a major change in the polygon cutting algos during the next days, so I think r3008 is good to use, next versions are probably not until I've sorted out the remaining problems. Gerd

Problem with turn restriction

Hi, attached test file shows a problem with turn restrictions defined on very short streets that are removed by mkgmap. When routing from the parking space in the west to the parking space in the north the route should go over the oneway in the south. But because the turn restriction at the end of street 1 has a very short to-way the turn restriction is removed by mkgmap. @Gerd: do you see any chance to fix that so that the turn restriction is not removed? (I have not tested the high precision branch). WanMil

can't make routing work any more

A couple of weeks ago I downloaded the pennsylvania-latest.osm.pbf OSM dataset and was able to use osmosis to grab a bounding box and then use mkgmap to create a gmapsupp.img file that allowed automotive routing in the selected region. I didn't write down the mkgmap options that I used but they were simple and trivial...that I do remember. It is possible that I used .osm.bz2 XML file instead of the .osm.pbf file but I don't remember for sure. Now I simply cannot reproduce the process using either file. I've created a shell script to try to automate the process and no matter what mkgmap options I used the resulting img file tells me no routable roads in my area when I upload it to the GPS and try to route to a road somewhere. I can create an osm xml file using osmosis that contains the correct bounding box but the final img file loaded into the Oregon 450 GPS seems to not contain any routeable data, no matter what options I use. I'm doing ./make_gmapsupp left=-80.25 top=42.5 bottom=39.25 right=-78.75 as limits to my script. mkgmap and marine mode

I was informed by an user, that the Freizeitkarte maps are by default in marine mode. Has someone information which bit is set in this case and what the default set by mkgmap is?
