Hi all, today I've tried to update the wiki a bit. Please review. I wonder why many options are not documented in the wiki http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Mkgmap/help/options I've compared it with the help file produced by mkgmap r2641 : 1) all optimization options are missing: --reduce-point-density=NUM --reduce-point-density-polygon=NUM --[no-]merge-lines --min-size-polygon=NUM --polygon-size-limits=limits code 2) other missing options --drive-on-left --drive-on-right --check-roundabouts --check-roundabout-flares --max-flare-length-ratio=NUM --ignore-builtin-relations --report-similar-arcs --report-dead-ends=LEVEL --delete-tags-file=FILENAME --show-profiles=1 --[no-]poi-address --verbose I think most of these options are for experts only. If they are missing by intension, ok. how to have a script/batch check for mkgmap version?

I just noticed, that mkgmap changed the files it outputs on an empty command just again... /java -jar mkgmap.jar --latin1 --overview-mapname=test1 --tdbfile --index/ used to produce at least either: /mdr*.tmp/ or /test1_mdr.img/ now however (since integration of the overview2 branch?) - no files are output at all anymore... it would be great if there was a possibility to check for a) mkgmap working (check if working very basic/only react if correct Java installed, and output a file - even without input) b) best would be if that file could contain the mkgmap version number - so right now 2641... or am I missing something - and what I want to achieve is already possible? -- keep on biking and discovering new trails Felix openmtbmap.org & www.velomap.org

Address search Slovakia and Czech Republic

In Slovakia as well as Czech Republich - just like in Germany - there are some prefixes for cities - which shouldn't be in the name - however they have special symbols, can someone have a look, why the following doesn't work?: (the substitution of neither Okres, nor Kraj works) - both words have some special accents.... Question reg. default style

Hi, I wonder why the default style lines file adds areas as a routable lines, e.g. http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/25466948 The rule that matches is highway=service [0x07 road_class=0 road_speed=2 resolution 22] Does it make sense to make areas routable? The reason why I found this is that the removeShortArcs method is messing this up, see attached gpx. Gerd

roundabouts and remove-short-arcs

Hi all, even with remove-short-arcs=5.4 GPSMapEdit claims that mkgmap produces roads with "too close nodes". It seems that most of them are roundabouts. I assume this happens if the first point lies close to the last point, as remove-short-arcs ignores the roundabout. Did anybody ever note routing problems that might be explained by this? Gerd
