Still problems with lakes

Hi! I still have the problem that either lake Vänern in Sweden or lake Saimaa in Finland are partly rendered as land. The problem still exists using the latest precompiled sea from Wanmil. Using one of my older areas.list Vänern is OK but Saimaa is not. Letting the splitter create its own areas.list Saimaa is OK but then southern Vänern is dried out.

[proposal] Display the destination

Hi, I added following lines to my style file in order to display the "destination"-Tag on motorway-junctions: ---------- # Set the routing direction (highway=motorway|highway=motorway_link) & destination=* { add display_name = '${ref} (${destination})' } (highway=trunk|highway=trunk_link) & destination=* { add display_name = '${ref} (${destination})' } # Set highway names to include the reference if there is one ---------- This works well (see pictures [2] and [3]), but: When using the Garmin Types 0x08 and 0x09 (Ramp), Garmin is evaluating the first way behind all the _link ways. This is not what is stated in the wiki [1]. In most cases, only the _link ways are tagged. So the idea is a new mkgmap option --process-destination which does following pre-processing: For all _link ways which have a destination-Tag copy the tag to the following non-link way (motorway or trunk). point number too big

I'm trying to debug an error with the following 'Lambertus' mapset: Openfietsmap Lite France 15-10-2012, temp download location: http://osm.pleiades.uni-wuppertal.de/garmin/openfietsmap_lite/15-10-2012/58… This map is generated with mkgmap-r2337 If I send one or more tiles to the GPS, Mapsource crashes instantly: MDR_TRIM_ADDR.CXX-347-6.16.3.0 (it doesnt matter which tile I send) Other country sets don't have this issue as far as I have tested (NL, B) so there might be a few or more corrupt tiles in this France mapset. I ran mkgmap on the individual img tiles to recreate a new index, and notice that mkgmap complains several times about "point number too big". What is this error and might this be the reason for the MDR_TRIM_ADDR crash?

render closed waterway polygons?

In my styles, I want to render closed waterway polygons as areas by using the continue statement in my lines: waterway=canal & natural!=water [0x1f resolution 23 continue] polygons file: waterway=canal [0x3c resolution 23] Those closed bodies are rendered ok now, filled with water. If this waterway area consists of two or more separate ways, connected to each other, this is not rendered as water polygon but only as linear elements, which is excellent. Problem arise at the tile borders, where I get unwanted side effects, linear elements of waterways that cross the tiles are automatically closed by mkgmap and therefore rendered as areas (filled up with water), which I do not want. I like to distinguish those artifical polygons in my style file from the really closed waterway polygons. Are those artifcially closed polygons tagged internally by mkgmap somehow, so I can exclude them from my polygon style? Background: In the Netherlands there are tons of areas of water tagged as waterway=* (canal, drain, river). According to the wiki this tagging is wrong (for polygons natural=water should be used, or for bigger rivers, waterway=riverbank). But since Potlatch, Josm and Mapnik automatically render closed waterways as areas, many mappers are making this mistake. (One could argue if maybe the wiki should be revised, why is only waterway=riverbank a polygon and a closed body of waterway=river not?) In Potlatch all natural=water polygons are called "Lake" so many mappers want to 'improve' those areas by tagging them as waterways. I have tried to contact the Potlatch developers about this issue but they dont seem to care to adjust it.

Could not open style file

I used mkgmap on a Windows machine to create Garmin maps from OSM data. In the future I want to run it on Ubuntu Linux. Unfortunately there is a problem including style files. I'm using mkgmap r2349. On Windows the parameters "--style-file=C:\Landkarten\mkgmap\ --style=thomas-style" worked well. On Linux the parameters look like "--style-file=/mkgmap/ --style-file=thomas-style" and it doesn't work. Error messages as "could not open style file thomas-style" and the following messages appear. at uk.me.parabola.mkgmap.osmstyle.StyleImpl.<init>(StyleImpl.java:140) at uk.me.parabola.mkgmap.osmstyle.StyleImpl.readBaseStyle(StyleImpl.java:518) I also tried to put the style files (lines, points ...) in a zip-file but that doesn't solve the problem. Any suggestions? Thank you.

The patch handles the problem reported by Minko (http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/pipermail/mkgmap-dev/2012q4/015287.html) It adds the tag mkgmap:tagsincomplete=true to all mps where tags are not loaded because they are not addressed in the style file. The mp algorithm uses the tag to decide if the tags must be taken from the outer ways or from the mp itself. WanMil
