In some cases this reduces the LBL file size which broke three of the junit tests.

Map installation problem from r1971 onward

Hi Martin, Here are the commands that I have run (without problems in the past): java -Xmx1g -jar splitter-r171/splitter.jar ireland.osm.pbf java -ea -Xmx1560m -jar /Applications/mkgmap/dist/mkgmap.jar --description="Ireland" --country-name=Ireland --country-abbr=IRL --latin1 --family-name="Ireland" --series-name="Ireland" --style-file=./cliff_style --max-jobs --route --remove-short-arcs --adjust-turn-headings --add-pois-to-areas --family-id=1 --product-id=1 --net --road-name-pois --generate-sea=multipolygon --index --tdbfile ./6*.osm.gz python gmapi-builder.py -t osmmap.tdb -b osmmap.img -s M0000001.TYP -i osmmap.mdx -m osmmap_mdr.img osmmap.img 6*.img osmmap_mdr.img These command produce a gmapi directory which installs (with Garmin MapManager) when I double click it and click install. Bascamp can then see it in the Garmin Maps subdir of my Library. Then I use Garmin Mapinstall to install it onto my garmin unit. Notice that I am not simply producing a gmapsupp.img file but instead going though the above hoops so that I can have address search working on the gps unit (Oregon 550t). I don't have problems with a simple gmapsupp.img file using the latest mkgmap version. Are you able to produce an address-searchable map on your gps unit with the current version of mkgmap? Routing error Austria

Hi, Routingerror on Felbertauerntunnel (Austria) in BaseCamp and (concerning to a user report in the OSM forum) also on GPSMAP62 Device : <http://up.picr.de/7750089mbq.png> Routing N->S ok, S->N not ok (straight line). Routing in Cloudmade is OK: <http://maps.cloudmade.com/?lat=47.11749&lng=12.504855&zoom=17&directions=47…> Could the circular primary_link road be a reason for this ? <http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/87705242> Chris

suggested use of add-pois-to-areas

what is the current suggested use of add-pois-to-areas - have any changes like http://gis.638310.n2.nabble.com/POIs-for-areas-td6043656.html been introduced recently ? is it correct that w/o this options garmins won't be able to find, let's say, hotels that are mapped as an area, instead of a node ? -- Rich

Address information and POIs with extended Garmin type

Hi, going through the trunk source code (MapBuilder.java) I observed that POIs with an extended type (>= 0x010000) are excluded from automatic address filling (location-autofill parameter >= 0). Does anybody have an idea why? The locator branch does not differ between extended and non extended POIs and I want to know if I should change that before merging locator back to trunk. WanMil

Hi, I think the locator branch is ready to be merged back to trunk. I will improve the help files so that it's easier to understand what need to be added to the style file and which parameters need to be added to use the new locator features. Any objections? WanMil

Resolution/level range, rendering parallel routes

Hi, [1] says that resolution or level range is not supported but in fact it works (tested on gpsmap 62s). It only needs to be written in opposite order (ie 3-1 instead of 1-3). Can you please change it so it works in both ways? It's really a minor issue but it should make it a bit easier for beginners :-) I need resolution range to render parallel hiking routes, like in [2] or in josm plugin routes. Lines for different routes needs to be offset by the same number of pixels in every zoom level so I'm going to generate osm file, that will for every zoom level contain all routes (with different offset that will translate to the same pixel distance). Before I start, is there any easier way to do this in mkgmap? If not, do you think it's useful enough to get it integrated into mkgmap? So I'll try to make mkgmap patch instead of osm file generator... Preventing Routing Node Creation

Please excuse me coming to this mailing list with a 'beginners' question but, believe me, I have searched widely without a solution. I would like to know if is possible in a 'routing generation' compile to have a command in the style 'lines' file which will prevent creation of routing nodes completely for a specific code for which such nodes would normally be created. For example can something like this be used: highway=* {add mkgmap:abxdef-ghj=false} [0xXX] Where 0xXX is the routable Garmin code. Thanks for any guidance. Bill.
