Hi I have started to implement adding features into the overview map. You can find ready built jar files on the download page and in the 'overview' branch in subversion. It creates the overview map from the .img (as before) and so it is very quick to try out even on a set of tiles covering a whole country. There is no configuration yet, it just takes everything (lines and polygons) that is in the least detailed layer of the detailed maps and adds it into the overview. You will immediately notice a big problem in that the overview map shows up even when the detailed maps are being displayed, so you get ugly jagged lines across the top of the map. I remember this happening the last time we has an overview map and I wonder if anyone can remember if there was a solution then? I'm going to start by trying the (so-called) POI flags, as one of those has been noted to be set differently on detail and base maps before. ..Steve

Hello. I'll re-test the situation every week. 0x10 for residential in default style

Hello all, At the moment, I’m merging my own custom style with the default, and I’m wondering about the use of code 0x10 for landuse=residential in the polygons file. Is 0x10 a standard Garmin code for residential areas? If not, isn’t 0x01/0x02/0x03 a better choice (0x03 is already in use for place=village)? BTW: I hope to be able to switch completely to the default style and then fit my TYP file to that. When I’m done with that, is there any interest for that TYP file? Regards, J-----.

[index] Automatic location completion

After the index branch has been developed so far that we can use the results in MapSource (thanks to Steve!!) there is a big need for a mechanism to fill missing location information. There has been a lot of discussion about that. It stopped because it was quite theoretical (from my point of view). Therefore I have started to implement a prototype osm hook that tries to complete the missing location information. I think the is_in tag is quite problematic therefore I decided to use the addr tags. Attached is a *very* early implementation that makes use of the boundary polygons. It checks all nodes and ways/polygons within all boundary polygons and fills the missing addr tags. I think this is a better foundation for the discussion how we want to fill the missing location information. Before flaming me about terrible code please be aware that: * the patch is not optimized * it's version 1, so far away from handling all situations / countries * it's a very early prototype I would be happy if you try it and make some proposals how it could be improved. Some improvements I already know and thinking about: * The new hook should run after the multipolygon finishing and not before * The is_in tag should be handled * boundary information propagation => First go through all boundaries and add the information from higher levels to lower ones, i.e. add addr:district to all city boundaries within that district * Use landuse=residential information in combination with the place nodes * In case a boundary level is missing (which mostly will be the case for countries admin_level=2), select the addr information from all nodes and ways within a boundary by using the most used addr-tag value. (in germany the addr:country=DE should be the most used) Have fun! WanMil

bug in mapsource installer

Hi, I have a question about the nsis mapsource installer. I notice in the nsi file the series-name generated to set the default name for installing the maps in the mapsource register and the default installation folder: !define DEFAULT_DIR "C:\Garmin\Maps\OpenFietsMap (series-name)" !define INSTALLER_DESCRIPTION "OpenFietsMap (series-name)" !define INSTALLER_NAME "OpenFietsMap (series-name)" !define MAPNAME "test" !define PRODUCT_ID "1" !define REG_KEY "OpenFietsMap (series-name)" Why is this not the family-name? In the map dropdown list in Mapsource, I would like to see the mapname with creation date, (which is the series-name). The default directory and Mapsource registers should be kept the same mapname every time, usually this is always the family name. Can this be changed? Cheers, Minko

POIs for areas

Moin, I have taken a look at the add-pois-to-areas function: The function is implemented in MAPMaker.java (makeAreaPOIs), which means, it is active, AFTER the processing of the osm-data. So without a greater change this function can not be modified to be controlled by action rules during the style controlled osm-data processing. So I tried a limited modification, its not perfekt but for me it is an improvement over the actual implementation. This does not allow to create POIs for areas without the creation of a polygon (as a workaround a transparent polygon can be created). But the modification allows to control the POI generation for each polygon type on its own, i.e. via the style file single polygon types can be selected for the POI generation. My modification disables the add-pois-to-areas command line option, instead the POI generation is now triggered by a new command "add_poi" in the element type definition in the polygon style, e.g.: amenity=bank [0x2f06 level 3 add_poi] Since I am not really familiar with my java environment, I can not provide my modification as a patch, instead you will find the modified files attached to this mail. I have marked my changes with "//TTT-start" and "//TTT-end". Gruss Torsten
