Configurable flood blocker

I have committed an improved version of the flood blocker to the coast branch. It is configurable in some parts (please refer to the help file to the exact config options). What are the improvements now ? 1. I observed that in many good sea polygons there are some highways which are located very close to the edge of the polygon (e.g. a street that ends in the sea). It is now possible to set a gap to ignore these points during the flood blocking algorithm. (Parameter fbgap=NUM (meter)) 2. Now I count the number of land points and sea points in the sea polygon. Given n(bad) = (n(land)-n(sea)) the flood blocker ignores all sea polygons where n(bad) < fbthres (Parameter fbthres=NUM) 3. At least the number of n(bad)/size of polygon gives a ratio. The polygon is removed if the ratio is higher than fbratio. (Default fbratio=0.5) Current rules which coords are used for flood blocking evaluation: Land: highway=* or and not highway=construction not layer!=0 not man_made=pier not man_made=dam not bridge=yes/true/1 not tunnel=yes/true/1 Sea: route=ferry or boundary=administrative and maritime=yes Next I want to add a configuration file for the flood blocking rules. Please try the current version and play a little bit with the options and tell me what you think and if it fits your needs. WanMil

Hello, I found why "product-version" makes an error : The option file description does not contain a topic about this option. Just add something like that : --product-version This is an integer that identifies a release number (default value is 1). David

Big trouble with sea generation and small problems wiith options

Hello, I compiled geofabrik.de Ireland OSM data with mkgmap (I made my tests with source code downloaded 2010/12/17) and the sea is generated only for one tile with "generate-sea=multipolygon,close-gaps=1000"but works well with "generate-sea=multipolygon,extend-sea-sectors,close-gaps=1000" ! With mkgmap version from august, it works well. Did you change an option for sea generation ? I also found two small problems with mkgmap's options : Option -version does not display a number but "svn". This is the same with old version (since 156x, I think) While I noticed you changed some options name, I found a annoying change : when mkgmap meets an option which is not needed for compilation phase, it stops with an error message like "invalid option". This happens only with "product-version" option. Thank you for your great job, David

style polygon+line on one input object

Key "countinue" work only in 1 style file (line or polygon). Routable intersecting polylines not corrected and some other bugs

I just used the verify maps function of gpsmapedit (a new version was released a few days ago, that improved the error checking possibilities -- http://www.geopainting.com/en/ ) to check for errors in mkgmap created maps. Most found stuff is IMHO not really important. However there should never be the case that a routable line intersects itself. Of course this is a data fault in OSM, but maybe such intersecting lines harm the routing over longer distances... Usually the reported problems are roundabouts (but not tagged as such) - and no problem, sometimes there are really strange shapes however, or obvious errors like this (note the oneway arrows, that go against each other): There are also sometimes real intersections without roundabouts - those are really really rare however (found one, but then gpsmapedit crashed before I could make a screenshot, would need to search again to find em). Also sometimes gpsmapedit complains about too short distance (under 2.3m) of routing nodes, but I think these are false positives, as I think this problem got fixed after a report by me about 1 1/2 years ago. Not sure what to make of the other errors found. I think most are not really harmful - but just to list them. Other bugs that should be fixed but are not high importance to what I would guess: -- No space at the end of a string. (pretty rare) -- Polygons intersect themselves (again error in osm data, but cutting intersecting polygons into seperate single ones would be cleaner - or drop them altogether as obviously data is wrong) - this is quite common. --- Polygons have jitter - Polygons that have parts that get averaged to a straight line or that are a strait line in OSM data. Obviously those jitter points should be dropped.

Building the planet splitter from the crosby_integration branch

Just a quick note. This is the code for splitting the planet into thousands of areas in a single pass based on the mkgmap splitter. I mentioned this code on both osm-dev and mkgmap-dev. This branch supports PBF, runs much faster, threads better, doesn't have the 'node in too many areas' issue, and split thousands of areas in one pass. ( See http://www.mail-archive.com/mkgmap-dev@lists.mkgmap.org.uk/msg06934.html ) This code has several external dependencies that I should have cataloged before, but didn't. You need the dsiutils and fastutils jar's available at: http://dsiutils.dsi.unimi.it/ http://fastutil.dsi.unimi.it/ You also need to use protobuf 2.3, available at: http://code.google.com/p/protobuf/ The sources for the osmbin jar needed to parse PBF files can be found at: https://github.com/scrosby/OSM-binary or the jar can be extracted from the sources for osmosis. rendering roundabouts

I noticed that some roundabouts are rendered very badly, like this one: http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/1677/rotonde.jpg http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/way/81912267 Can I improve the rendering by changing some settings (reduce-point-density, merge-lines or remove-short-arcs)? Or is it just the way those roundabouts are mapped that causes this behaviour?

Splitter question

Hi, I've been using splitter to cut European country files into pieces that RoadMap will cope with. The country files are from GeoFabrik (http://download.geofabrik.de/osm/europe) RoadMap is at http://sourceforge.net/projects/roadmap . This works very well except for a few cases in which some of the pieces don't appear to get any smaller when I decrease max-nodes.
