Reserved codes for custom needs?

Hi List, I'm just working on a specific style which shall help me mapping some details when I walk around. E.g. I'd like to have an icon for traffic_signals and different icons for emergency_phone/telephone and different icons for post_boxes with collection_times and without collection_times. Otherwise it's really difficult to see whether I have already tagged some details or not. I've searched the current cGPSmapper-UsrMan-v02.5.pdf for assistance but could not find any codes which I can use for custom needs. Question: Will I get problems if I use codes which are not listed in the document or is this just unknown? Or are there even codes which are reserved for custom needs? Any help welcome Andre

same first expression for lines and polygons (style branch)

Moin, I am using the style branch, so I don't know, whether this is also a problem for the main trunk. In my polygons file have a line like highway=pedestrian & area=yes [0x01 resolution 22] in my lines file I have a line like highway=pedestrian & area=!yes [0x02 resolution 22] With such a style, all the pedestrian lines without the area tag are missing in my map. If I change the polygon file to area=yes & highway=pedestrian [0x01 resolution 22] both the areas and the lines get into my maps. Gruss Torsten

[PATCH] Prevent display_name from getting split

The attached patch is a small correction for the display name patch committed with r1331. The correction prevents the display name from being split if it contains a ";" character. I'd appreciate it if someone could commit this change, as it keeps the display name from getting mucked up in certain rare cases. Cheers.

IndexOutOfBoundsException while creating MDR

I attempted to create a map of the Geofabrik extract of Europe using the --index option. (I know this may be somewhat premature, since the MDR code is still in progress.) - This map consists of 274 tiles. When I tried this, mkgmap halted with an IndexOutOfBoundsException. - The exception occurred at line 356 of LBLFileReader.java in method readPoiInfo(). This is the code that caused the exception: if (placeHeader.getNumCities() > 0xFF) cityIndex = reader.getChar(); else cityIndex = reader.get() & 0xff; poi.setCity(cities.get(cityIndex-1)); To see if I could compile the map anyway, I added try and catch statements around "poi.setCity(cities.get(cityIndex-1));", and printed the exception. I received a lot of error messages like the following: java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException: Index: 17906, Size: 258 java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException: Index: 3413, Size: 258 java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException: Index: 13957, Size: 258 Although the map then compiled, it still crashed Mapsource. Oh well. Any idea what is going on here? Is it too ambitious to try to create such a large map with > 256 tiles at this point? Cheers.

A bug tracker for mkgmap?

I've submitted a few issues with mkgmap to the mailing list which as far as I can tell have been lost in the mail flow. Shouldn't mkgmap have a real bug tracker so this doesn't happen? I can bug the relevant people to create an mkgmap component on trac.openstreetmap.org. Is this something the mkgmap maintainers are interested in having? It would certainly help me as a user to see whether the bugs that affect me are being delt with.

[PATCH] Find City indexing patch

some bad routing

I switched the routing options of my etrex from fast route to short route. Now at the location http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=51.44248&lon=6.66183&zoom=17&layers=B000F… routing goes from "Moerser Hof" in the north to "Römerstraße" in the south over the service street of Edeka. The tag service=parking_aisle should be added but also it is tagged as permissive. You only can drive very slow and can't access all the time because of the barrier. Later the routing goes at the location http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=51.38501&lon=6.69594&zoom=16&layers=B000F… "Am Stellwerk (bridge)" to "Dahlingschule" over the track grade3 which is only accessible for agricultural vehicles. Is it necessary to add some restrictions to the line-style file? By the way, which detailed effect does have the different roadclass and the roadspeed values on an etrex? Ralf
